Did you know the word "devote" comes from a Latin root that means to consecrate... to formally vow? That stopped me. Because we use another word in the Bible that carries the same meaning... holy. To be holy means to be set apart. And God calls us to it... "Be holy, for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16). So this Monday Money Devotion is not just a check-in on your finances. It is a consecration. A setting apart of your time and your money for God's good work. Question for today... are you devoting your financial energy toward the end result? Or toward the One who holds it? Your worth is not a number. God has already stamped you as worthy. Created in His image. Whether your account holds $1,000 or $1,000,000 today does not change that. I see you as wealthy, family. Created in the image of the God who owns it all. This devotion time is yours... use it to set something apart for Him. I recorded a podcast today that really had me thinking about the place in which we put money. As a personal financial coach, yes, I absolutely want everybody to make as much money as possible and be debt-free and steward money wisely. As a Christian financial coach I always remember to leave room for God. When God directs us to do something that does not make sense financially or otherwise, you have to ask yourself: who will you obey? Who will you follow? I pray that you choose the same God that my podcast guest Emmanuel chose. When given that choice, he chose to obey God. That decision has led him through a very difficult season. Two years of moving back in with his parents. Two years of income much smaller than he was familiar with in his corporate job. Two years of leaning on God to provide as he gave himself wholeheartedly to ministry. In this season God continues to show up. That is what I desire for you: for you to experience God by being fully obedient to Him. For you to allow Him to show up. Because when you do, God becomes your provider. Your provider stops being your job, your family, your savings, your retirement fund, your investment accounts. God shows up especially when you feel weak and vulnerable and humble. $200 - ladder $170 - Saw $100 - neighbor's property damaged 4 Hours work Goal = prevent the branches touching the electrical wire. Prevent a fire. I didn't want to pay $700. HOW HARD CAN IT BE to cut a few branches off 66 trees in my back yard? So I went about figuring how to do it myself instead of paying the price quoted by my gardener. I paid him to do this same task last year. I can do this myself... Be my own expert. I found out why he charges for this work. I didn't accomplish as much as he did. And... I expect a bill for the damages I caused to my neighbor's yard. 🤦🏾‍♀️ The WIN? I have two really cool new toys. An extendable 18' ladder and a powerful saw. WooHoo!!! And I got a great story of friendship and love with the friend who joined me on this adventure. 💗 What is your "DIY story that cost you money?
