Most of those mis-matched relationships shouldn't have been so solidified in the first place. Poor initial screening. Nothing wrong with superficial relationships as they have their place. Just don't invest in them so much, and turn them into exclusive, long-term, ones without rigorous questioning, as he covers some of. Unfortunately, many people are fairly superficial overall, and so they "wake up" while together. Good luck. A bigger issue are people dedicating themselves to exclusivity, monogamy, lifelong "til death do us part" promises, or even ridiculous govt marriage contracts, in the FIRST place. Use private contracts instead. And ratchet them up incrementally: 1 year, 2, 3, and then 5 at a time thereafter. Maintain completely separate finances. You don't really know people that well in a year or two, certainly not enough to devote the rest of your life to them. Having kids? Maybe throw in a 10 year contract, but even still... dicey. Good luck.
