Starting your Half Marathon Training and Changes
So your running a half marathon. But, do you know where to start with your training? Here's my top three tips! 📅 Start training ASAP. Keep it simple, structured and build from your current fitness level. 💪 DO strength and mobility training. This allows your body to stay healthy and pain-free as your weekly running distance grows. ✅ Make yourself accountable. Write down your goal. Tell your friends and family. Join a group to encourage each other. 🏆BONUS: Enjoy the journey! Explore new running trails. Try new workouts. Do other events and meet people. The Changes... I am launching my Kerikeri Half Marathon coaching group starting THIS FRIDAY, built specifically for first-timers. You'll get a tailored training programme, built-in strength routines, and weekly group coaching to make sure you hit race day ready. This will be hosted right here in the coaching group! It will be $81 per month to be part of the coaching group. This will include ALL Current and Future Training Programs. Thanks again for your support, and look forward to your future running progress! ~Coach Geno

@Paul Green great question Paul. I would look to start taper. I don't think you need to do too aggressive a taper though. Could look at a 60 to 90 minute long run, just keep the intensity out of it. We'll talk more about it on the live stream 😊

Tips on Cold Running
Hey team, Thought with this winter snap, will share a couple little tips to get out on those colder mornings. What are your cold running tips? 1. You will warm up once you get going. 2. Layers! Use a breathable merino or similar, then layer up to a lightweight windproof jacket. Gloves and beanie are a good idea, and can be taken off easier once you warm up. 3. Turn your car heater off before getting out there so it isn't so much of a shock. 4. Enjoy it! Funny enough, the body can perform a little better in the cold, so you may find it is one of your better runs of the week. 5. And lastly, the more you do it. The easier it becomes. Get out there and enjoy the cold, and share any tips you have 😁🏃‍♂️
