Hi everyone, I’m Chev 👋 Im based in Perth WA. My background is in mining and graphic design, so I’m coming into this with no construction experience. My brother’s an estimator, and hearing about the challenges in his role has sparked my interest. I love AI and exploring how it can help solve practical problems, which is what brought me here. Long term, I’d love to build the skills to become an estimator and potentially start my own remote estimating business, if that’s even a thing? I’ve already consumed alot of your content on Youtube and found it really useful and interesting. Is this community the right place to build the knowledge I’d need to get into the industry? Would upgrading to your other offering be the next step, or are there other qualifications or hands-on experience I should work towards as well? Appreciate any advice on where to go from here!

This has been a big month for me. Last week I became a Dad (super excited but sleep deprived), also feels very wierd calling myself a Dad. So this month I'm in a tiny bit of a holding pattern but I've got two main focuses this month. 1. I want to engage way more on here and restructure the classroom. We've got sample projects, tons and tons of templates and more. I really want to try and get people to use them 2. Rebuild my email newsletter so its genuinely useful for people. I'm planning on breaking each week down into three parts: news updates - what's happened in the last week of construction/AI, inform - some interesting insight or perspective change and work - a new approach or solution to a task. SEO takes forever to rank, PPC gets expensive when you're competing with everyone else, and referrals are great but you can't always rely on them. Anyone here thought about using direct mail to get in front of homeowners in the areas you actually want to work in? Curious if anyone's tried it, had success with it, or would be open to giving it a shot?
