Quick check before you call it done 👀
Hey, Hey P2P’ers!! A button can look perfect and still do absolutely nothing. Ask me how I know! 😅 Before I call a step done, I test three things: ✅ Does it work when I click it? ✅ Is it still there after I refresh? ✅ If something goes wrong, does it tell me what to do? What’s one thing you check before calling your build done? Are y’all with me?

I'd add: can someone get through it without me explaining what I meant? A button can work perfectly and still leave a beginner wondering whether anything happened. A clear confirmation and an obvious next step would be on my checklist. Your refresh test is a good catch too, Sharon.

That's a useful fix, Sharon. Moving the completed step out of the way should make the next action much easier for a first-time user to spot. Good luck with the final stretch of the hackathon! A fresh pair of eyes clicking through without instructions would be a good last check.
Running my app idea through Sharon's validation steps (live, steps 3 and 4)
Sharon's "Don't Build Yet" post landed at the right time, because I had an idea this morning and I'm using her five steps on it instead of building first. The idea: an app for finding a doctor who actually listens. One page per doctor with their reviews from everywhere, the doctor's own answers about how they listen and how much time they give you, and then patients come back after the visit and say whether the doctor lived up to it. Eastern Washington and North Idaho first. 1. Pattern: I'm picky about doctors, and so is every woman I know. 2. Evidence: a published study found doctors interrupt patients after about 11 seconds, and most patients check two or more review sites before picking one. 3. Real people: that's where you come in. 4. Willingness to pay: same. 5. Decision: pending. If you have 60 seconds, here are 3 quick questions: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd3wHkHk4ih7sBdHbP6Spd2Gv0Ocj5OQqEzC488WAvRd9vbOQ/viewform Or just tell me here: would you use it, and should patients pay or should the doctors? Tear it apart, that's what I'm here for.

Traci, the trust question is what I'd want to test first. If doctors pay, how would a visitor tell a sponsored placement from the comparison itself? I'd also want to know where each review came from and how recent it was. I'm not ready to say I'd pay for it, but those details would make the idea easier to evaluate.

@Traci Baker Thanks for clearing that up, Traci. Keeping payment separate from rankings and showing the review sources answers what I was wondering about. How has the early feedback been going? Has anything people said made you rethink part of the idea before building?
Hour 7 and counting… 😂💻
Hey, Hey P2P’ers! Even with a plan for my app, this still takes TIME! Especially when you know judges will be clicking through it 👀 Everything can work and still not feel easy to use. That’s where I am now, tightening the flow so people know what to do next without me explaining it. Building, testing, adjusting… your girl is still at it! Send snacks and some RAAH RAAH! 😂📣🙌🏾

RAAH RAAH, Sharon! 📣 Making it usable without standing beside the person is real work. Hope you get a snack break in there too. Is there one screen that has taken more reworking than you expected?

@Sharon L Simmons Glad the snacks made it into the plan 😂 The extra scrolling and backtracking on a phone is a much clearer problem than 'this screen looks wrong.' Hope the next round of testing feels smoother for you and the people trying it.
Lovable can now help you grow and market your app, not just build.🎉
Many of us have built an app, a landing page, or a ministry tool and then asked, “Now how do people find it?” Lovable just launched Growth Tools. In the same chat where you build, you can now say something like “Help me get my first 100 signups” or “Get more people to my Saturday class.” Lovable will: ✅ Make a growth plan based on your app and your audience ✅Help you get found on Google Search and in AI search (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) ✅Set up your Google Maps listing if you have a physical location ✅Draft posts for the online communities where your people already spend time ✅Create ad images, videos, and copy from your app ✅Launch ads on Google, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram 💡 You approve everything before any money is spent. Ad costs are billed by Google and Meta directly, and Lovable adds no extra fee. Learn more here: https://lovable.dev/grow

Hi Sonja, the question after building—how people actually find it—is very relevant to what I’m doing with printable games. Have you tried the growth tools on one of your own projects yet? I’d be curious about the first useful change you made, rather than the whole feature list.

@Sonja Sulcer Thanks for sharing what you actually tried, Sonja. A rough first video and a strategy to review is a helpful distinction from finished marketing. What is the first part of that strategy you're thinking of testing?

@Noel Hale You’ve already got a concrete starting point with the Excel model, Noel. What would your sales director most want to see in the first report? I’m curious which part of the information would make it useful enough to open regularly.

That makes the first report much clearer, Noel: the weekly and quarterly comparisons show the sales direction, and the aged debts show where follow-up is needed. Thanks for spelling it out. You've got a defined report to build toward rather than just asking AI to summarize everything.
