Hi community! I will move to Canada in a month, I have civil engineering experience in Germany and USA but I want to know more about the industry in Canada, see if I can get my PE in Ontario because I will study my master at York. If possible also find short term jobs remote or on site to learn while still studying.

Welcome Isabella! Your experience across Germany and the US should give you a really interesting perspective as you transition into the Canadian industry. Best of luck with the move and your master’s at York!
Anyone else notice how many calls get missed while crews are in the field?
Been building an AI receptionist for a US tree service company the last few months. One thing keeps surprising me: how much revenue never gets picked up. This company was missing about 50% of their calls. Not because anyone was slacking, but because the crew is in the field. Guys are on trucks, on-site, hands full. Homeowner calls at 2 PM, no answer, moves to the next name on the list at 2:02. Set up the AI to catch every call, qualify (scope, location, timing), and drop the job straight into their CRM. They're booking about 50% more jobs a month now. Roughly $20k+ per month in recovered revenue. Same crew, same ad spend. Curious for the roofers, HVAC folks, and tree service guys here: how much of your inbound do you think gets missed when your crews are out working? Would love to hear if 50% is normal or if we caught an outlier.

50% missed calls is a huge leak, especially when the crews are out in the field. The CRM handoff is probably just as important as answering the call. How are you handling leads when the AI qualifies a caller but they don't book immediately?
Introduction
Hi everyone, great to be here! I'm Craig and I've been a Contracts Director for a supply and installation company for the past 10 years. I’m joining this community because I really want to connect with like-minded construction professionals and draw on your real-world experiences to help improve my current processes. My number one goal right now is streamlining. I'm specifically looking for new, highly efficient ways of tracking projects from start to finish. Currently, my main tech stack consists of G Suite and Salesforce, but I’m incredibly interested in exploring how to integrate AI into my workflows to save time and reduce friction. If anyone has successfully brought AI into their project management, or has any favorite integrations/workflows that play nice with Salesforce and G Suite, I would absolutely love to hear about them! Looking forward to learning from you all and sharing what I know along the way. What is everyone else using to track their projects right now?

Welcome Craig! Since streamlining is your main focus, I’m curious where does the most friction happen in your project tracking right now: keeping everyone updated, chasing information, or moving things between systems?
Sold my first project…help!
Hi all, This is a great community. I just sold my first project, an AI phone assistant who will take calls, gather information, answer questions, and schedule appointments. I’ve used ChatGPT and Claude to plan out this project. But I still have two important questions for this great community. 1) What should I charge for this first project? If it goes well, it could lead to several others with the same Contractor. 2) For any of you who have built something similar, what tech stack did you deploy? Thank you.

Congrats on landing the first project, Andrew! Getting the first one sold is a big step. Curious, now that you’re moving into the build, what part are you finding the most challenging so far the phone agent itself, the CRM integration, or getting the appointment workflow working smoothly?
Whats your Tech Stack?
Curious what everyone’s running. Here’s mine: • JobTread — PM, estimating, budgets, and the file system: plans, drawings, receipts, job docs all live here • QuickBooks — accounting • Notion — business brain / SOPs + cost history • Airtable — Contractor OS data layer • Claude / ChatGPT — the glue. Skills + MCP connectors so I’m not re-entering the same data three times Google Drive is still in there, but honestly it’s redundant — it only exists as a staging spot until I get receipt capture running properly through the agents. Once that’s clean it comes out. What are you running — and what’s sitting in your stack that you know you don’t actually need?

Sam, that’s a pretty serious stack. The part about using agents to eliminate the receipt-capture workflow caught my attention. What’s the biggest manual process you’re still trying to get completely out of the workflow?
