True, very tone deaf after the news of private sector curbing hiring. Timing is not right. But the biggest truth is Corruption Prevention. Do we know how much politicians and their families in other countries really bag in addition to their official salaries? When they’re in seats of ultimate power amidst wealthy corporations, the official salary is but spare change. Solving national problems for a tiny state with no natural resources is far more complex and difficult than running corporate P/L with singular focus. And the other ugly truth is that you lose your life and sacrifice your family’s too. Your time doesn’t belong to you, if you’re not at work, you’re meeting sad people at the CCs, or at some market at 7am shaking hands. Your life is for all to scrutinize and your family hardly sees you. Which of our CEOs from DBS, Capland, Singtel, Olam want to trade for this? All said, I think timing could be better.
