Wow, I’ve been losing myself in others’ intros but let’s get mine out before it’s too late. Great to meet y’all, my name is ivy and I’m another multi-hyphenate happy to be in good company. I’m torn on where to use my brand name Won’t Lovers Revolt Now (a palindrome, spelled the same way forward as it is backward) and my own name as an artist because of the different situations I find myself in—hoping to figure that out with this course. “Fashioning radical worlds, together” I’ve become known for my handmade costume work, performance art, and community organizing. Most of that has been in my local Ballroom community, where I’m not really in for money because that’s not the point. This year I’ve started to table at craft fairs to add a new revenue stream selling smaller things like handmade stickers, jewelry & blind boxes. Next up is adding costume accessories into my lineup of products. Down the line I want to be working self published decks of cards and comics into the mix. So there’s a lot of different lanes & I’m hoping to use my content to help tie it all together with a personal throughline. Cringe mountain plus some health things have had me on a social media haitus for almost five years at this point. I really need to start posting again, but just still don’t feel like I have enough material to be doing so consistently. My work is artsy to it’s core. Big inspos are creative powerhouses like Lynda Barry & Kelela who wear their hearts on their sleeve and let curiosity expand their multi-media crafts to new levels. I want to be constantly redefining & presenting my artistic voice as who I am in the moment and helping others do the same! If I had to pick three words for my pillars, I’d say: -Creativity -Curiosity -Authenticity This video was the last thing I was able to make before I had my big health hurdle come up. It was part of an episode exploring my Ballroom category of Bizarre, and I showcase three of the looks I’ve made for it here. I’ve come a long way since here (5 years ago! So much has changed) but I want to get the funding to help make this kind of project possible again.
