The dust is killing me..
You know at music festivals when there’s so much fine dust flying around you when you blow your nose it’s black? That’s mulching everyday for me… I’ve started to bring a vacuum inside the cab with me because all the mulch dust piles up right on my door seals so every time I close the door huge amounts of dust floods in and goes to my AC. It’s rough. Who’s got solutions? Because at this rate, I’d be better off in a coal mine.

@Austin Gray What’s up Austin, going very well. Business gets better every month. Just trying to figure out how to not breathe dust all day 😂 but for the money it’s worth it until I hire someone. Hbu?
Pricing
Had a call for digging a ditch and creating a natural berm around a deer hunting property, around 1200 yards long. Digging out a handful of stumps in a food plot as well. Figured it would take about 4 days and waa going to rent a Deere 245G, $3200 for a week, delivered. Quoted him at $9k total. Was my pricing too high?

Nah it’s Not too high. Just did a similar job around that same price. Took me 2.5 days 12 machine hours, foot plot grinding stumps down and cutting lanes for target practice and deer to get through. Lucky for me he just wanted them flush to the ground so he could bushhog it. They were pretty rotten, I lucked out!
Best tools for rim/tire stuck in fae mulcher?
Found their "graveyard" of hidden tires under some brush 😒 I bought a angle grinder theres a good quarter of the rim twisted and stuck between the back bar and the teeth. and tips?

Anyone know ftx150 production rates dm me
Pine farm, just harvested 120->60 tons of stumps, more slash than I've ever seen. Piles taller than me. Owner wants day rate instead of per acre. I' be running a ftx150 on tuesday next week on a different job to test it out, but first time in the big boy machine 😊 how many acres of just briars no trees can it clear per day? (can i do 3 acres just briars with it 1 day?) And How about for post logging cleanup job how does it perform. I guarantee hes not gonna want my skidsteer out there lol Thanks

@Josh Rivers thanks for the heads up, how much extra did he charge you.
Quoting and time
Do you guys have any insight on how long it takes to complete a job? For example standard forestry mulching setup for 1 acre? Nothing crazy, pretty flat. How long would this take? I’m trying to gauge this mainly because I will be renting equipment early on and want to make sure I can quote properly to still produce revenue. Bottom line is I don’t want to quote a job at 3k and have a setup for a day when a day rental cost $1900 just to not be able to finish it and have to rent another day and lose my butt. Thanks for any insight. Matt

Just gotta get some reps in to find what works best for your day rate. Austin has a sheet that goes over calculating it on the spreadsheet in the classroom. But on the bright side if you have to rent it 2 days you get 2x the mulching experience and a 5 start review + content + possible referrals even if you break even on the job. And the pain of picing it wrong stings and helps you make a better quote next time. Its also about what rental your getting If i may ask what one your getting, I was renting a 75-3 with a fae but 0 edge on the knives and broken carbides, so it distorted what i thought i could do after my first job. Then i got in a 97-3 and it changed everything😝 I also rented a bobcat 7700 and it shredded amazingly but the hydraulic hose broke first day renting it lmao. Some jobs ive been 1 acre of hardwoods and took all day, others done an acre in like 3 hours. best of luck! God Bless.
