I snapped at my daughter last week over nothing. She asked me something twice because I wasn't even listening the first time, too busy staring at my phone. And I got pissed at HER for it. My own kid. That's when it hit me. Not some big rock bottom, just me being a shitty version of myself over nothing. Truth is I've been off for weeks. Short with my wife. Going through the motions at work. Half checked out in here too. And I know exactly why. I stopped doing the shit I said mattered. Training, skipped. Mornings, half assed or blown off completely. The stuff I preach to you guys about being non negotiable, I quietly stopped holding myself to. One missed day turns into three, turns into "I'll get to it Monday," and pretty soon you don't even recognize yourself. That's where I've been. Grace has its place, I still believe that. Life kicks your ass sometimes and beating yourself bloody over it doesn't fix shit. But somewhere along the way "grace" quietly turned into "not holding myself to anything." You don't feel that line the day you cross it. You feel it three weeks later, snapping at your own kid over nothing. So here it is, plain. Give your balls a tug. That's not a cute line, that's exactly what I mean. Wake up. Own what you let slide. Get back to work. No five step plan, no soft landing, just go do the damn thing. You're a leader. Your kids, your crew, this community, none of them need you rested and comfortable. They need you present. That starts with the boring shit, done every day, whether you feel like it or not. I'm not writing this for sympathy. I'm writing it because saying it out loud is how I hold my own feet to the fire. Today I'm back on it. If any of this hits you too, you know what to do.
