Nimble-Knots-Cotton-Clash: A worms inspired artillery game
Who creates it: Just me and OpenAI's Codex, but I hope my step daughter supports me with marketing. I know Nimiq since 2016 and played NimiPet together with my family. Its my first game. I also didn't do anything significant with the nimiq blockchain so far. Why I chose a game: Nimiq Ecosystem needs to visibly grow in terms of people using it. Without this growth there is enough trust for more serious business applications. I think this video about the Empty restaurant paradox illustrates this well. In my opinion a catchy "one more round" game like worms, which offers winning of significant enough funded rewards, is one of the most efficient way to attract people. How exactly will the game attract people: Core values: - Cute comic like Nimble-Knots with funny animations - A strong onboarding - A careful chosen gameplay, which allows for an engaging turn based gaming experience with minimizing effectiveness of in game exploiting strategy - Player vs Player and Player vs AI support - Weekly tournament with 30 to 40 UST funded price money - I think I can keep this up for two months - Reducing friction of crypto to fiat transfer of price money by focusing marketing on target audience with access to an already established fiat - crypto bridge How to ensure that the nimiq ecosystem is benefiting: As of now I m thinking of making a proof of small nimiq balance on the Nimiq Pay app wallet a requirement for participating the weekly tournament. That way proof of interacting with the ecosystem is the entry ticked for the tournament.
🏆 MINI APPS COMPETITION: CYCLE #1 WINNERS!!
Cycle 1 is officially in the books. 62 Mini Apps submitted, all of them scored by the Nimiq Community Council, and the results are final. 🥁 Drumroll please… 🥇 1st place: Nimiq Space by @Harley NSpace An open multiplayer world where wallet-signed players can see who is online right now, paint a persistent 500x500 collaborative floor, and build rooms that sync live for everyone in them. 🥈 2nd place: NimJump by @Emre Alt An arcade game built around a minimal client-authority architecture, where the server replays every run itself instead of trusting the score the client reports. 🥉 3rd place: NimQuest by @mystiquemide A learn-and-prove Mini App with server-graded quizzes, where a completion only counts once you sign a one-time message in Nimiq Pay. Congratulations to all three. Winners will be contacted directly to arrange payout. To everyone else who submitted, thank you. You shipped something real in four weeks and set the bar high for future cycles. Every app you built is yours under the MIT License, so keep going with it. 🗓️ Cycle 2 opens August 24. Same $17,000 USDT prize pool, four Sip & Ship calls, submissions close September 18 at 23:59 UTC. If your app did not place this time, you can refine it and submit it again. Congrats to all winners.
Could a shared identity layer make Mini Apps better?
One thing that's always bothered me is that every app starts from scratch. Every app needs its own profile, display name, avatar, contacts... even though it's the same user. That's why I built NimConnect. The goal is to provide a shared identity layer for Nimiq Pay Mini Apps so developers can integrate: - 🪪 @handles - 👤 Public profiles - 💸 Payment pages - 📇 Rich profile data Instead of rebuilding identity, apps can focus on what makes them unique. I'd love feedback from other Mini App developers. Would you integrate something like this? I think what is needed is a better connection in the ecosystem. It would reduce friction when interacting outside the Mini Apps, so in my opinion this identity layer makes a lot of sense.
NimJump New Update
NimJump used to be playable only inside the Nimiq Pay app — now you can play it directly on the web too We've also launched VS MODE: challenge another player, stake your Nim, and battle it out head-to-head— just you against your opponent, react fast, and take the win! One thing to keep in mind: all web rewards are earned at half rate compared to the Nimiq Pay app. Want to earn full rewards? Play through the Nimiq Pay app instead. Web is great for marketing but the app is where the real rewards are. Play now: nimjump.zetashare.com

I played on the desktop with keyboard and on the touchscreen phone. The keyboard was much easier to use. On the phone I always got confused what action the rabbit was actually reacting at. Swiping left or right works but for me it feels strangely detached, when I don't have some UI controls I can trace back my actions. Also the rabbit falls down or goes up so sometimes my thumb can cover its movements, so I lose track of whats actually going on. This gets worse when it comes together with the rabbit leaving the right side of the screen and reappearing on the left. I would separate arena and controls. The auto jump works well, just the direction controls I would ground in a clear UI element on the lower part of the screen where it doesn't collide with area where something happens. Also the health bar is barely visible in the lower left corner. Other than that its fun to play :-) I tried it out on a Samsung s22.

@Emre Alt What about the original doodle jump controls? I tried it out this morning, it works by tilting the phone in the direction you want to go. I had the feeling this works much better
Mini App support for full screen in landscape game mode
I try to use Codex for developing an artellerie game. In landscape mode, the Nimiq Pay status bar and URL ribbon take up a significant part of the available screen. This makes it difficult to provide a comfortable game layout, especially when touch controls and the battlefield need to remain visible simultaneously. I tested the standard browser Fullscreen API on a Samsung Galaxy S22: - In Samsung Chrome, requestFullscreen({ navigationUI: "hide" }) works correctly. - Inside Nimiq Pay, the same page reports that fullscreen is unavailable, so the Mini App cannot request it. - The game still provides a compact fallback layout, but true fullscreen would offer a much better landscape experience. Would it be possible for Nimiq Pay Mini Apps to support user-initiated fullscreen mode? The desired behavior would be: - Fullscreen can only be entered after an explicit user tap. - The Nimiq Pay URL ribbon and Android system bars are hidden while fullscreen is active. - Physical rotation between landscape and portrait remains possible. - The Android Back action or an in-app button can safely exit fullscreen. - Mini Apps without fullscreen support continue working normally. This would be useful not only for games, but also for videos, presentations, maps, and other immersive Mini Apps. Is this already planned, or is there a recommended Nimiq Pay integration that Mini Apps should use?

I think a workable workaround for now is just rotating the game scene and stay in portrait mode with the phone rotated physically to landscape. Codex just implemented this in 5 minutes. The only downside is that the player needs to switch off rotate screen in the phone setting manually.
