Hello everybody, what a joy and blessing it is to be a part of this group and witness so many testimonies of lives being changed by growing great businesses. Thank you to Austin and all the time and effort he has poured into us all. The fruits show. I started building a website for fire mitigation January 27th of 2025. After a year of humming and hawing and beating back the what if's I found Ownr Ops. In the spring of 2026, I finally launched the website, found insurance, and built a google business profile. My first booked job was May 7th. Since May of 2026 I have quoted $170,917 of residential/homeowner work and 1 corporate quote of $575,000. Of the residential/homeowner work I have closed $67,297 for a 57% close rate. The corporate quote never reached back out after many attempts lol. I do run Facebook ads but much of my work has been through my website and google profile. Half of the jobs have been fire mitigation by hand, and I have had some mulcher work as well. I currently rent all of my equipment I use other than my truck, trailers, and chainsaws. It's been a blast and I have been able to complete this all while still working my W2. Thank you, Austin, for showing that an average joe can do this and be successful while providing amazing work to customers. Now for equipment questions. I am currently building a quote for a customer on 120 acres 40 of which we will complete in phase 1. Lots of dead and down timber and small aspen groves to be removed. We will be working on anywhere from a 10-30% slope. I really do not want to be running a compact skid loader on 20+% slope so am looking into renting an FAE PT175 to run the slopes. Does anybody have experience running one of these larger machines that you can tie off to trees on slope? The other option would be to run a tracked chipper and excavator to pull out all the down timber and chip on site above or below the slope, does anybody have experience purchasing one of these tracked chipper and their capability on slope? My final thought would be to potentially purchase an older skidder to pull out the downed timber using chokers and grapple the timber it can drive to. This all feels a little over my ability but the only way to learn and grow is to figure it out and money is made in the problem solving. Thanks in advance for any input!

I will be launching a forestry mulching specific company with a new 275xe and a fecon head. I filed my LLC with the state and got my EIN. I created my Facebook page and also did my Google account. Soon I’ll be renting a skid steer from cat to take to my buddies property to mulch so I can make content and make videos for my pages. I have a 2022 Chevy 2500 dmax. It is paid off and I am looking for trailer ideas. I DON’T have a flat bed so I am worried about having space on a tandem 10k axle bumper pull trailer. I would like to have a job box for spare parts and maintenance items. Also store a grapple bucket. My truck is setup for a gooseneck as well I know the ride quality is better and I would have more space but is it really necessary? I have a class A CDL. Any input on what I should be doing from now until January when I start scheduling jobs for February would be appreciated and any input on the trailer setup I should go with would also help.

How in the world do you deal with them when you're doing land clearing? Mulching is easy, you're in the machine. But when you need to be out felling trees and cutting stumps, what do you do? I've been a farmer for awhile now. And I've been around these critters my whole life, and I've only ever been stung twice, in my life, until this job. 2 or 3 got me one day, and then 2 or 3 the next day. 5 total, but I don't remember in what order they happened. And they were bald faced hornets. Those suckers hurt! Anyways, what do you do when you're at the site and they start coming for you like crazy?
