Or, join GZA and actually improve!

I recently read an interview with Brian Setzer and he revealed something that may be relevant to my particular situation. I'm going to pursue more details and if it works for me, I'll make it back to GZA, where I really want to be!

I would spend it on GZA membership and buy a good moderately priced instrument with a good setup. If I already had a guitar, I would have it set up properly and move on with GZA. Clapton, Gilmour, Santana... all sound better on a $250 instument than I do on a $20k custom. Great instruments don't make you sound better, they just inspire you to practice better!

Well, Cary, I see why Steve picked you for this interview. Excellent job. You nailed my experience (and probably everyone else's as well) about as well as anyone could ever express it. For me, the human interaction and experiences were the key to unlocking my obstacles. GZA grew to be something I miss beyond expression. The 18 or so months I spent there elevated my attitudes, abilities, techniques and approaches in ways I can only concieve in retrospect. If anyone that views this interview, or reads the comments and is SERIOUS about playing, whether that be for personal reasons or to fulfill dreams of captivating an audience, has hesitations about commiting to this program - cast them aside. I do not believe there is better instruction available anywhere, at any price. It works, plain and simple. I do want to impress the importance of the personal interactions Cary and Steve commented on. I believe it is the one single thing I miss the most. At any level, you can find yourself being both the student and the teacher. There is something to learn from everyone, even if it's just how to ask questions.

I have recently found hope that there is a solution for me that caused me to discontinue GZA. If I do in fact find a solution, 'I'll be back!'
