Years ago, I built a trading and finance education website from scratch. It became a very successful online business, and eventually I had a deal on the table to sell it for around $700,000 USD. That deal ultimately fell through, and I later sold the business outright for around $200,000. I moved on and the new owners took over. Over the years, however, the business was badly hurt. Traffic fell, revenue dropped, and a digital asset that had once been worth hundreds of thousands of dollars became worth a fraction of what it had been. Recently, I got the opportunity to buy my old business back for roughly ONE-TENTH of what I sold it for. I took the opportunity because underneath the damage I believe there is still a valuable business there. It has history, authority, content, customers and assets that would take years to build again from scratch. Now I'm going to rebuild it. What makes this different is that I'm going to document the process as I actually do it. I'm not going to wait until everything works and then write a clever case study explaining how obvious all my decisions supposedly were. You'll see the decisions as they're being made. You'll see what I spend money on, what works, what fails, where I waste money, where I make money, how I try to rebuild the traffic and revenue, and eventually how I prepare the business to be sold again. The detailed rebuild will be inside the VIP area because I only want serious people following this part of the journey. People who genuinely want to understand how online businesses are built, bought, repaired, grown and sold. I'll show the real numbers and explain why I'm making the decisions I'm making. More importantly, I'll explain how the same thinking can potentially be applied to your own business. This isn't really a story about one website. It's about learning how to recognise an undervalued asset, understand what is still valuable inside it, fix what is broken, grow the revenue and turn it back into something another person wants to buy.
