Why Answer a Question When You Can Create the Answer? 🎬
First, a little credit to Jonas. His work and enthusiasm for video creation have genuinely inspired me to explore this side of AI more seriously. Yesterday, Jonas posed a question to the group. Rather than simply typing out a response, I thought, why not create one? So that’s what I did. From concept to finished video in under an hour. Not a big deal. I’ve been working with generative AI, creative prompting, writing, and visual content for quite some time. Video creation is a relatively new extension of that work, but the underlying creative process is familiar territory. For anyone interested, here’s how ChatGPT, Grok, and I put it together. 1. The Idea It started with Jonas’s question. I already had some creative ideas and visual themes I’d been developing, so I decided to translate that inspiration into a short video rather than another written response. 2. Creative Development — ChatGPT I worked with ChatGPT to develop the concept, establish the visual direction, and create the prompts. This is a collaborative process. I provide the ideas, creative direction, preferences, and feedback. ChatGPT helps translate those decisions into detailed prompts that the video generator can interpret. 3. Prompt Review and Refinement Before generating anything, I review the prompts. If something doesn’t reflect what I’m trying to communicate, I change it. I’ve learned that the quality of the instructions matters, but so does knowing what you’re trying to achieve in the first place. 4. Video Generation — Grok Once I’m satisfied with the prompts, I take them into Grok and generate the video. That’s where the written direction becomes moving imagery. 5. Review, Edit, Repeat I watch what Grok produces and decide what works and what doesn’t. If the movement, composition, atmosphere, or other visual details aren’t right, I make adjustments and generate another version. It’s a back-and-forth process between my creative judgment, ChatGPT’s assistance with the prompts, and Grok’s generation capabilities.

I just made a quick experiment with a summary of a course + gemini. Will for sure dive more into this! To me AI really can be an incredible tool to do quick sketches, but does it not also take away some imagination? To me we should for sure use it, but what if it totally replaces our own thoughts ? @Matthew P. what´s your take

@Matthew P. yes yes yes.... i can totally see that! Especially cause moving image has such a high entry barrier - so much to learn, but then having a result THAT instant is truly mind blowing.... Also for me, i am very excited to see what else is coming up.... and it´s fun! Do you have a pro account ?

How did you get started with Film + Videomaking?
For me it was skateboarding, the love for being outside and capturing the aliveness around me. Here is one video of that time. I am curious, how did you start / are starting / think of starting? What makes you curious and what excites you? Share it with me!

Over the next few weeks, we're making some major upgrades inside The Filmmaker's Journey. But unfortunately, a lot of you won't be here anymore for that. The thing is, after working with brands that 99% of filmmakers say they "dream" of working with, one thing has become very clear to me: Technical skill matters, but having a creative eye is what truly makes you a filmmaker people rely on. For a long time, this community has been a place for filmmakers to learn, explore ideas, and improve their craft. But that isn't the extent of how I want to help you here. I want to make sure this community becomes much more focused on helping members actually move forward with their projects. That means creating a space where you get the value that helps you work through the problems that keep filmmakers stuck. How to structure a story so it holds together. How to develop a writing style that feels natural on screen. How to edit in a way that keeps an audience captivated. How to make stronger creative decisions. How to overcome the blocks that stop an idea from becoming a finished film. And yes, how to use those skills to create better opportunities and work toward your income goals. Because making money with filmmaking is not the hard part. The harder part is developing the foundational skillset that makes your work stand out and makes you difficult to replace. Your taste. Your perspective. Your way of seeing and solving creative problems. That's what makes your work recognizable. And that's what can make people choose you over someone who technically knows how to do the same things. The goal is to help bring more meaningful movies into the world, and to make this community genuinely useful for people who are committed to that process. So, to keep the community focused and valuable, we will be removing inactive members in the next few days. If you've received a message from us about confirming your place, make sure you reply "yes" if you'd like to remain part of The Filmmaker's Journey.
