We want to see you play
We want you to post videos of you playing. Nothing fancy at all. No special Camera. Just an iPhone or anything else you got lying around works great. Just post a minute or two of you playing. And share it to the group. Filming yourself and sharing is risky, it’s vulnerable, but it’s literally how you grow… and we all want to chime in and support you and talk about what we like in your playing - and what’s good in it. And it’s also the best way to find out what you need to work on. And that’s why you’re here. You have our support. Let’s see your bass videos. Post something… let’s GO! ⚡️

@Paul Rose that makes a lot of sense. Will try to incorporate that into my practicing
Not the usual suspects
I played guitar on and off for 30 years. Much later I got into the low end via Al Cisneros of Sleep, Om and Shrinebuilder. Lately I've been into Hardcore and digging the playing of Dave Curran of Unsane. I also love the playing of Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden. Yeah I'm into the heavier side of things. Doom, Stoner, Sludge, Punk, Hardcore and Grunge. Anyone else into the heavier side or have "not the usual suspects" that got them into bass?

Big fan of the heavy stuff myself. My music collection has been noted by others to be quite eclectic. Bit of everything
20 year hiatus is over!
Hi everyone. Great to be here. Having sold my original bass when life took over 20 years ago, I've since purchased and revamped (correction, got a friend to revamp) an Eastcoast Bass to get back into it again. I have been amazed at how much I remember, but have a long way to go before the confidence I used to have returns. Ready to try out the lessons in the classroom. Thanks @Murphy Karges

Classroom Update
Yo everybody — quick reminder for anyone who hasn’t spent much time exploring the Classroom yet.. There are now 50+ free lessons, trainings, beats and play-alongs waiting for you in there. You’ll find: - Bass Training lessons on timing, chord tones, scales, groove, rhythm and more - 20+ beats in the Beat Lab - 12 chord progression jams - 4 Ear Training lessons - The complete Bass 101 beginner course - My Shred the E Minor Pentatonic training (one of my favorites and a scale I still use everyday!!) - And more coming Some of these are lessons and concepts I also teach inside my private Mastermind, so there’s some seriously good stuff in there. Jump into the Classroom and explore. And as you work through things, we’d love to hear if anything is clicking for you, what you’re enjoying, (or even what you don’t like- nothing sacred here we’re all just trying to improve) and any wins you’re having… we’d love to hear from you 🤟🏼 Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with all of it. I've really enjoyed getting back into playing, and your lessons have helped me very much. Felt like a recap of lots of stuff I'd learned when working with a teacher 1-2-1. Plus, had some light bulb moments of things that I don't think were really emphasised when I was learning. I like your approach of keeping things straight forward, which lays a solid foundation for us to add value as we see fit, suited to our context and goals. Thank you @Murphy Karges

@Murphy Karges it was around the major scale and the essential notes. It was obviously a long time ago when I learned. My tutor was great and helped me in many ways, but when you talked about it I felt like I began to understand my bass alot better. That was the lightbulb!
Weekly Wins
Learning things is cool. That's why we're here. Having an awesome support group along for the ride is just as important. Now that there are some lessons up, I thought it would be cool for anyone who had a win this week to share it. It can be that you got through a handful of lessons, or you had a solid practice with your band. No win is too small! I'll start. My band managed to book shows for every weekend in September. Usually we play over Labor Day, and then we are on break until after Christmas, so I am super stoked to be playing all month. What's your win?

After having surgery on a bad fracture in my left little finger, my win this week is playing with all four fingers on my left hand over the fretboard, without a jot of difficulty. So pleased my recovery has gone so well. Appreciating the small things. That's my win.

@Michael Cook I really did. They were brilliant. I had literally just started practicing again and within two weeks I broke the finger (playing around with one of my girls 😭 ), so I was really worried. Key was to keep it moving and commit to the rehab. Consultant was amazed at my mobility after 6 weeks. When I clenched my fist and his jaw dropped!
