I want to celebrate a member's win. I'll keep him anonymous. If he chooses to share his experience in the comments, that's entirely up to him. He owns a construction company, and we worked together for a few months. When he first came to me, he wanted help with nervousness, articulating his thoughts, and communicating more confidently. Fair enough. But as we worked together, we discovered his communication challenges were affecting his sales, client relationships, pricing, and ultimately, his bottom line. Here's what happened when we applied the A.L.I.C.E. Method™. 1. From Nervousness to Clear Intention We started with his communication challenges but soon realized he needed a clearer sales process. What was he trying to accomplish in each conversation? What did he want the client to understand? What decision needed to be made? We applied L — Learning Intention. The breakthrough was realizing that communicating confidently wasn't enough. He needed to communicate with purpose. 2. From Explaining to Listening This was a big one. He was spending too much time explaining, emailing back and forth, traveling to sites, and managing client expectations. But he wasn't always asking the right questions. What does the client actually need? What's their budget? When do they expect the work completed? What are they willing to pay for? We applied A — Active Listening. He began asking better questions, involving clients in decisions, and confirming expectations before moving forward. The result? Less back-and-forth, fewer unnecessary trips, and more time to focus on growing his business. He stopped assuming and started listening. 3. From Vague Agreements to Clear Payments Next came pricing and payment schedules. He realized he wasn't consistently charging for consultations or site visits. The scope of work wasn't always clear, and projects could drag on without urgency. We worked on setting expectations early, clarifying deliverables, creating payment schedules, and getting clients involved in the decision-making process.
