Today's Call
Hey all, Waited 10 mins but had nobody join so jumping off Zoom. Today's plan was to work on your September Priorities re: clients, but you can review the slides if you want to DIY this and bring your focus and priorities to the Office Hours Q&A this Friday. Any questions, drop them below! ~Kev

@Flor Maria Cruz it would have been better if I put up a post sooner to remind everyone haha, but no we started back with the sprint on Tuesday!
wish me luck!
First call, booked! I'm excited but also very nervous (although I've had plenty before, this time feels different)! fingers crossed!

You're gonna be great @Joana Nucci well done on putting in the work and getting the first call in. Keep us posted on how it goes 🙌
Buyer Invite System Done ☑️
Hey guys, Hope you found today's session useful. The Recap & Actions doc is available in the Master Doc, to help you stay focused on the right next steps. As I mentioned on the call, I'm travelling to a wedding tomorrow and only online for part of the morning. If you need me before then, drop me a message on LinkedIn or here. Our next coaching calls from now and through July will be more implementation-focused. There'll be more opportunities for live coaching and specific support. And the one thing I will say is you will get far more help on these next calls if you've already taken enough action to create evidence of progress. Stay on the green line 🟢 (yes I know that's a circle but you get the point) The more you do the work, the more I can work with you. @Alex Becker said at the end of today's workshop that it was 'dangerous' haha! He was feeling energised, which is great. Use the energy when you've got it. But on that note, remember that the skills you're building can make you dangerous (in a positive way). When you know how to connect with the right people, be visible and valuable in your conversations, and start inviting them to offers when you know can genuinely help? You'll start booking calls and getting more clients. That makes you a dangerous operator (I wouldn't want to be your competitor 👀) Just remember that's why we're here. So keep up the great work, reach out if you get stuck, and I'll see you all next Tuesday for the next sprint! ~Kev

@Flor Maria Cruz
Hello :)
Hi All, I am from Ireland and live in Dublin. I provide leadership, confidence and career progression coaching to software engineers and technical professionals on a 1-1 basis. In business for over two years now. It has been an interesting journey with a lot of ups and downs. I help my clients to gain more visibility, build influence and to be more confident with their communication when demonstrating their value and impact. I be interested to hearing about your own business journey and learning from each of you.

Building your own business is the best personal development there is, in my experience. The ups and downs are to be expected @Conor Clarke ! Good to have you with us, and great work so far on everything you've completed this month 👌
📣 Language coaches! How do you measure and show client progress?
I’d love to hear how other language coaches make progress visible for their clients. A relatively new client recently told me that being able to clearly see and track their progress is really important for their motivation—which makes complete sense. Until now, I’ve mainly documented progress through feedback emails after our sessions (sentence corrections, vocabulary, recurring patterns, etc.). But this client doesn’t really have time to read detailed emails, and the format doesn’t necessarily help them see how they’re developing over time. So I’m curious: How do you measure progress, especially in one-to-one coaching focused on professional communication rather than moving through traditional language levels? Do you use regular assessments, self-reflection, recordings, specific communication goals, or something else? I’d especially love to hear about approaches that are simple for the client to follow and don’t create a huge amount of extra admin for the coach 🙃. Thank you! 🫶

This is a great question @Sapana Gupta and I'd be curious to hear from some of the others here. I know you touched on reflection, so without creating more work for yourself, a part of their weekly commitment or growth items could be you giving the client a prompt about their week and they sit for 10 minutes and answer 2-3 Q's. Like: "What situation in work this week did you notice yourself communicate effectively? Why does noticing this matter?" (this could be phrased better, but you get the idea) You could generate a couple Q's with AI, and use them. Then they could send you their reflection, or a quick WhatsApp to share it and practice speaking. This helps them start paying attention to their progress every week, and noticing it more often!

@Sapana Gupta this is definitely something our friend AI could create and structure, if it has access to the transcript. If you make use of an AI note-taker soon and record a client session (with their consent), we can look at building a GPT that'll do this for you! But this is more useful for later, once we've got some offers out there ;)
