The Month of Beautiful Magic Housemates, October is approaching, which means it's time to reveal our next House Reading. September took us to Basgiath War College. For October, we're leaving the dragons behind and stepping somewhere entirely different. Somewhere strange. Somewhere beautiful. Somewhere that doesn't open until nightfall. Our October House Reading is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. And this month, our theme is Beautiful Magic: Wonder • Devotion • Mystery • Art. The Night Circus invites us into Le Cirque des Rêves, a mysterious black-and-white circus that appears without warning and opens only at night. No announcements are telling you when it will arrive. No schedule explaining where it will go next. One day there is simply an empty field, and the next there is something extraordinary standing where nothing existed before. That alone feels appropriate for The Frequency House. October isn't only about reading a story filled with magic. I want us paying attention to what the story says about our capacity to create enchantment. The circus itself is an act of imagination made physical. Someone dreamed of something that didn't exist, and through artistry, devotion, skill, obsession, collaboration, and tremendous attention to detail, an entire world emerged. I want us thinking about that while we read. How much of what we call magic is simply something extraordinary that someone cared enough to bring into form? We spend so much of adulthood becoming practical that sometimes we accidentally become predictable. We learn to value efficiency over wonder, productivity over beauty, explanations over mystery, and usefulness over art. We stop asking whether something delights us and begin asking whether it serves a purpose. 🎪 HOW WE'RE READING As always, there is no race to finish. Read the hardcover curled up somewhere beautiful. Carry the paperback around with you. Read digitally. Listen to the audiobook while driving, walking, cleaning, traveling, or getting ready in the morning. Audiobooks count. The purpose of House Reading has never been to prove how well you can sit still with a physical book. The purpose is to experience the story together.
