Well done Casey. Three months in, three to go? I don’t think so, you are well past the half way mark and solidly into polishing. For me, this is smoothing out the rough parts - those parts that standout to me while listening back. I’ll do this by focusing individually on each of those specific spots intensely two or three times through slowly, then go at full tempo, approaching two or three bars ahead of that trouble spot and also after it. I’ll run that two or three times then move on to the next trouble spot. After hitting all the troubles spot I’ve identified, I’ll run the whole piece again and see how it feels. I might then move on in my practice or do it all over again, depends on the day. As this is an inspirational piece, I’d also recommend practicing it at least once per day ignoring the technical aspects of playing it, divorce yourself from what your hands are doing and think about and feeling what your actually asking thru this piece. Your hands actually know the prayer pretty well by now, if you work to get the mind out of the way, you’ll likely find the spirit leads you to a more emotional and inspirational piece of music.
