Office Hours w/ Pro Swimmer Grant House Posted!
Office Hours from Thursday is up and posted. For all my clients, this is definitely worth a full watch when you have some time. We covered a ton of topics ranging from the paradigm shift in swim training from high volume --> intentional technical volume (technical work replacing a lot of zone-2 slop), and how we're seeing a similar shift at some level in competitive functional fitness to the biggest things that CrossFitters looking to improve their swimming can do. Fix for hip drive in the kipping HSPU
I filmed this video for some clients today to help them with fixing the tuck position of their kipping HSPU. There are a few keys to having powerful hip drive but building strength in this style of tuck will solve a lot of them as it pertains to the kipping HSPU.

(1) This is an awesome explanation video. I have needed something like this to share with clients for a long time. I feel like you explain the kip mechanics extremely well here. (2) I've never seen the straight-leg kip version used for wall-supported k.HSPU, only ever freestanding... that is a really creative way to teach the HIP drive portion of the k.HSPU. Thanks for sharing this dude, this was awesome!

Programming Software?
Which software do you use writing programmings for your clients? I am using TrueCoach at the moment. But thinking to change to FTRR Client, maybe. Happy to hear your experiences. Thank You!

I've been using CoachRX for two years. I think the client side of the app is pretty awesome and all of my athletes considered it to bo an upgrade once we switched over. They've added some features that I've requested on the program design side over the last few months that have been incredibly helpful to my workflow including -ability to save conditioning sessions / creating a conditioning library -ability to connect conditioning sessions to metrics -ability to copy "blocks" of training from one day to another (rather than just a full day) I do NOT like their template or long-term planner system at all, so I built my own as a chrome extension that lives alongside coachRX (see my screen cap). The other thing I didn't like (and FITRR is worse with this) was that I couldn't see the results for the previous week while I was programming, so I added a floating results window to the chrome extension that shows me any previous session and I can move it around as needed. There is a new piece of software that I'm actually intersted in called CoachLogix that has even better integrated video review systems + the ability to view a week across the screen OR view a single DAY across weeks (super helpful for building progressions). But I'm not convinced I want to change software packages yet since I have built the functionalities I didn't have for CRX.
10sec peak power
Anyone up for capturing 3 attempts to establish a 10sec peak power (wattage) on the C2 bike? I messed with it today, damper 10 and got 1113, 1155, 1355 (200# on the dot this morning) Interested in male / female scores - even better if you include BW so I can get a watts/kg read. I’ll report all the data back here.
