Love seeing authors create spaces to support each other and discover new stories. What genres are you most excited to find right now?
🚀 Welcome to the AuthorForge Founding Authors Community
Welcome. Whether you're writing your very first book or your tenth, I'm genuinely glad you're here. AuthorForge was built around one simple idea: No author should have to write alone. For years, professional authors have relied on editors, coaches, developmental editors, proofreaders, and publishing teams to help shape great books. Most independent authors don't have access to that. That's why I built AuthorForge. Instead of one generic AI assistant, AuthorForge gives you an entire AI editorial company working together to help you write a better book—while keeping you in control of every decision. This community is where we'll build that future together. Inside you'll find: 📚 AuthorForge Academy training 🎥 Product walkthroughs and feature updates ✍️ Writing tips from our editorial team 💡 Early access to new features 💬 Discussions with fellow authors 🚀 Behind-the-scenes development during our Private Beta If you've joined as a Founding Author, thank you. Your feedback won't just improve the software—it will help shape the future of AuthorForge for every author who comes after you. I'd love to get to know everyone here. 👇 Introduce yourself below and tell us: • What are you writing? • How long have you been working on your book? • What do you hope AuthorForge helps you accomplish? Welcome to the team. Let's create something remarkable. — Ken O'Brien Founder, AuthorForge

This is a great initiative, Ken. I’m glad to be part of a community focused on helping authors keep control of their creative work while getting the support they need. I’m especially interested in how AuthorForge can help authors move from a manuscript to a polished, publish-ready book. Looking forward to learning and connecting with everyone here!

I really like the idea of giving authors an editorial team feel without taking away their creative control. What part of the writing process are you hoping to make easier first?
What's the biggest challenge you face when writing?
I'm curious where everyone is starting from. Is it: ✍️ Knowing where to begin 🧱 Staying consistent 🧭 Knowing where the story should go ✂️ Editing what you've already written 😬 Wondering whether it's actually any good Or something completely different? Drop yours below.👇 I'm building AuthorForge around the problems authors actually face, so I want to hear yours — Ken Founder, AuthorForge

For me, staying consistent can be the biggest challenge. Having a clear routine and the right support can make a big difference.

@Ken O'Brien Absolutely! Small, consistent writing goals can make it much easier to stay in the flow.
✍️ What’s the hardest part of writing a book?
Every writer seems to hit a different wall. For some people, it’s getting started. For others, starting is easy... finishing is the hard part. 😅 So I'm curious: What’s the biggest thing standing between you and a finished book right now? 👇 Pick the one that sounds most like you: - 💡 I have an idea, but I don't know where to start - 🧭 I started, but I don't know where the story should go - 📝 I struggle to actually sit down and write consistently - 🧱 I'm stuck somewhere in the middle - ✂️ I've written it, but editing/revising feels overwhelming - 🤖 I'm interested in AI, but I don't want it taking over my voice - 📚 The book is written — I just don't know what comes next - 😬 Something completely different And if you're comfortable sharing... Tell us about the book you want to write. Fiction, memoir, business book, family story, first novel — anything. 👇 Drop yours in the comments. I'd love to hear what everyone is working on.

For me, editing and revising can be the most challenging part. Having the right guidance makes the process much easier.
✍️ Stop Editing While You’re Writing
One of the fastest ways to kill your momentum is trying to write and edit at the same time. You write a paragraph. Then reread it. Change three words. Rewrite a sentence. Question whether any of it is good. Twenty minutes later... you've written almost nothing. 😅 Here's a better approach: 📝 Drafting: Tell the story. Get it onto the page. Keep moving. 🔎 Editing: Come back later with a completely different objective. Look at structure, pacing, dialogue, continuity, clarity, and what needs to change. They're two different jobs. And your first draft? It doesn't have to be good. It has to exist. I made today's short video about exactly this. 👇 Now I'm curious: Which one slows you down more? A) Trying to make every sentence perfect as you write B) Getting the first draft written in the first place C) Knowing what to revise once the draft exists D) Something else entirely 👇 Drop your answer below. I'd love to know where everyone gets stuck.

Definitely B for many writers! Getting the first draft down without overthinking can make such a difference. The editing comes later.
