💸 Food Myths That Hold Us Back Series. Myth 5: Healthy Food Is Too Expensive
One of the biggest reasons people give for not eating healthier is cost. But here's the surprising truth: many of the most nutrient-dense foods are also some of the most affordable. 🔍 The Truth Healthy eating does not require expensive supplements, specialty products, or trendy superfoods. Some of the best foods for your health are budget-friendly: ✅ Beans and lentils ✅ Oats ✅ Eggs ✅ Frozen vegetables ✅ Sweet potatoes ✅ Bananas ✅ Brown rice ✅ Seasonal fruits The problem is not that healthy food is always expensive. It's that marketing often convinces us that it has to be. 🌱 Key Takeaway A healthy diet is built on nutrient density, not price tags. Focus on simple whole foods first. Your body and your wallet will thank you. 💬 Community Challenge What is the healthiest budget-friendly food you buy regularly? I go to the free Pantry's two to three times a week. I get fresh meats they even have 93/7 ground beef and turkey . Dry beans oats, tofu, fresh fruits - veggies, rice and canned vegetables. But when I do go to the grocery store, I'm normally grabbing some fill ins, yogurt or eggs things they dont keep at the Pantry's. If you really want budget shopping you have to check out Aldis, I normally spend $25 a week there to get enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner for seven days. So if oantry has meats I'll get beans, dry good those sorts, if the oantry has dry goods, I'll get veggies and meats. You just have to know what and how to budget and how to combine thrift and free with budget friendly 😁

🌱 Pumpkin Seeds & Men's Health
When most people think of pumpkin seeds, they think of a seasonal snack. But these small seeds have been traditionally used for generations to support urinary and prostate health, particularly as men get older. While no single food is a cure-all, pumpkin seeds provide nutrients that may help support healthy aging and normal urinary function when combined with an overall healthy lifestyle. What Makes Pumpkin Seeds Unique? Pumpkin seeds contain: ✅ Zinc, a mineral found in high concentrations in the prostate ✅ Plant sterols, including beta-sitosterol ✅ Healthy fats that support overall wellness ✅ Antioxidants that help protect cells from oxidative stress These nutrients have led researchers to investigate pumpkin seeds and pumpkin seed oil for their potential role in supporting urinary comfort and quality of life in aging men. What Does Research Suggest? Some studies have found that pumpkin seed products may help support: • Healthy urinary flow • Reduced nighttime bathroom trips • Improved comfort related to normal age-related urinary changes The evidence is promising but not definitive. The benefits appear to be modest and are best viewed as part of a healthy lifestyle rather than a standalone solution. Habits That May Support Prostate Health Nutrition is only one piece of the puzzle. Consider these foundational habits: 🥗 Eat more vegetables and whole foods 🚶 Stay physically active most days of the week ⚖️ Maintain a healthy body weight 💧 Stay well hydrated throughout the day 😴 Prioritize quality sleep 🍺 Limit excessive alcohol intake 🚭 Avoid tobacco products 🥦 Include foods rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, and minerals Easy Ways to Add Pumpkin Seeds • Sprinkle on salads • Add to oatmeal or yogurt • Blend into smoothies • Mix into homemade trail mix • Enjoy a small handful as a snack Choose plain, unsalted varieties when possible and view them as one part of an overall nutrient-dense diet. The Bottom Line Pumpkin seeds are a nutrient-rich food that may support healthy urinary and prostate function as part of a balanced lifestyle.

🕵️ Food Myths That Hold Us Back Series
Myth 1: Carbs Are the Enemy We see this claim circulating online all the time: “Carbs make you fat.” It sounds convincing, but it is misleading. 🔍 The Truth Carbohydrates are the body’s primary energy source. Whole food carbs like fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains fuel the brain, muscles, and metabolism. The real issue is refined carbs — processed sugars and white flour products that spike blood sugar and lead to crashes. When carbs come from whole foods, they support energy, digestion, and long term health. 🌱 Key Takeaway Carbs are not the enemy. The type of carb matters. Choose whole food sources and your body thrives. 💬 Community Challenge Share one healthy carb you enjoy daily. Let’s build a list of energizing options together.

Not gonna lie, I was ready to pull out the mint muddler for a second! Thought we were making mojitos 😂 It looks super refreshing, but I think I'm going to make mine with mineral water to give it a little extra fizz.
