But also kinda exhausting. A lot exhausting actually. Let me back up. Yesterday I succumbed to a bit of FOMO because I want to get my butt to Level 7 in here fast. And the funny @Joe Sargent suggested a GIF food fight. Which promptly devolved into all sorts of ridiculousness. Now, I did climb up the points ladder a bit, but like all silly things... the novelty wore off fast. Pretty soon my entire notifications list was a string of GIF replies 🤪. And they blocked out the notifications I honestly care more about. It was a good lesson in tactics that move the business needle and tactics that just amplify vanity metrics. I still want to level up, for sure, but I'm going back to doing it intentionally. Deepening relationships. Having real conversations. Helping folks that ask for help, and supporting those who just need to be heard. Asking questions, contributing meanigfully, and playing the longer game the way it's meant to be played. A little spike of silliness sure is FECKIN FUN, but it's no way to grow your business, find truly aligned referral partners, or a host of other stuff. Thanks @Heather Boers for making this space such a rich one, a place to have fun, to explore, to connect, to do ALL the things. Another lesson learned in an unexpected way! And if you're a business coach, a marketing creative, or someone who works with startups, solo entrepreneurs and the like, I'd love to connect. I'm always looking for folks to refer my network to, and to serve your clients in a way that you don't. (FWIW: Brand messaging, strategy, funnels, copywriting... those are my jam. I run a community called Funnel Forensics alongside DFY services.) If you'd like to connect and explore collaborative opportunities... let's do it!
