A Question About Forgiveness
I understand that we are to forgive, as we have been forgiven by Christ. However, I remember hearing June Hunt say that in abusive relationships - you can forgive; but still not have the abusive person in your life. I currently have a situation with someone in my church, that I feel like has been mentally abusive, in a demanding control over my life way. So my question is, how do you have boundaries & forgiveness, when it's someone in the body? To be a bit more specific, I am involved with the local political world. This person was going to break a vow they took to hold their first political office for 4 years, just a few months after being elected; in order to run for a much higher office. I told them that would not be the way to go. That the Bible says not to break our vows. This person got very angry with me, because they claimed God told them to do it. My Pastor told me I could not tell them what God did or did not say to do; & that I needed to mend the relationship. So I took her out to eat, & said we would probably never agree on the situation; but that we were still sisters in Christ, & sisters disagree. She was happy to hear that; but I think what she "heard" was that I was admitting I was wrong, & would never speak about that political topic ever again. Because about 6 months later, I was talking to someone else about how some Conservative people have been accusing other Conservatives of being "traitors" or "not Christian" & shunning them; simply for voting differently than they did. I brought up that the shunning had started months ago, when I was kicked out of a certain political group for disagreeing about whether to support the person from my church running for a different office. The person from my church was not in the conversation; but someone there went & told them that I was talking "about them" - which I wasn't. I was talking about the group that kicked me out for thinking differently than the group. It just happened to be due to the issue we had disagreed about earlier. It could have been about any political topic - cuz the point was about people shutting others out for no justifiable reason.

@Dominic Enyart thanks! I will listen to the study. 👍 I agree that the body is more important than my issues. But as you said in your example, the relationship would not be the same as before. There’s a lack of trust, that I’m not sure I will ever have again. For me, it’s kinda like a kid who keeps getting into the cookie jar. You love the kid. You forgive the kid. But you don’t say “I’m sorry I put the cookie jar out of your reach. Let me put it back where you can get into it again.” 🫤
Where is the discernment in the Church today?
I am a movie fan; so I love to see & support good Christian movies. I went to see Daniel & The Fiery Furnace; & what I saw was disgusting! The film lied about, twisted & added to the Biblical version. It even rewrote secular history, by having Jeremiah invent a low key printing press! At the end, the majority of the theater applauded!! 🙄 How sad is it when the church can't even discern the truth about 2 stories that even children know; & could have told them were not accurate in this movie?!? 🤔
I can't believe I found it!
This was lost for over a decade. Until 5 minutes ago! i reference this clip in the video. https://youtu.be/isRksh30ZUI?t=470&is=YmwqODsUG2MZUlpG

So cool that you found it! Thanks for the video link! I sent it to a friend who said they couldn't be holding Calvinist beliefs, when they did not know who he was. 😅lol
Bible study was officially AWESOME! Galatians 1a
Our first Monday night Bible study is in the books! If you weren't able to catch it live, see the recording here. Also @David Knoedler , you asked for the list of verses where Paul distances himself from the 12. Here you go! Galatians 1 Verse 1 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ Verse 11 the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. Verse 12 I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, Verse 15 God, who separated me Verse 16 I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, Verse 19 I saw none of the other apostles Verse 22 I was unknown by face to the church If you have any thoughts you forgot to add when we were live, please comment below.

@Clete Pfeiffer thank you for this! I have been meaning to reply; but keep having life drag me away. 🙄 I totally agree with what you said. My question during the study would enter in somewhere around points 3 & 4. I think there are some people who may speak those beliefs; but not actually believe them. Charlie Kirk once said it was like they wanted Eternal Life AAA - just in case that Christian thing happens to be true, I'll go forward & pray the prayer to be "saved". I think only God can read the heart to know if someone is just giving lip service to those beliefs; or actually believes them. Aside from my own story, where I had absolutely no clue what the prayer meant when I prayed it; there's also my Dad's story. He was raised deep Southern Pentecostal; but was also an abusive alcoholic his entire life. When I told him about Christ, he told me, "Me & Jesus got a thing going. He don't want no hypocrites; & He knows I ain't done sinning." Obviously, Dad had some understanding of the beliefs in the points above; but had not acted on them. A few months before he died, I said to him, "You're in a hospital with your toes about to be amputated from being drunk in a blizzard. How much more sinning do you have to do?" He answered that I was right; & prayed with me to accept Christ. It's possible that was a "AAA" moment; but the next time we saw him, he introduced my Mom as his wife - something he had never called her. He always had a degrading name for her - "ball & chain" - "old battle axe" - etc. His behavior was completely different in those months. So I choose to believe it was a real turning point for him. But my point is, how would we - as humans - ever know who really believes; & who is just saying they do?

@Clete Pfeiffer I have another topic related to what it takes to believe - but separate from the other response I gave. When it comes to those who do not have the story of Jesus ever told to them; I have heard that nature shows them there is a God, & some take another step saying that the gospel is in the stars with the cross being up there. So while I believe the first part is true - nature declares an orderly, loving & majestic God - how would they know specifically about Jesus & His sacrifice? I have head 1 theory that God says He only holds us accountable for what we know, & not for what we do not know; so they would be allowed to hear the gospel at the place of judgement in order to choose? Not sure there is any scripture that really backs that up; other than that 1 verse. Any thoughts on this?
Were Gentiles saved in the Old Testament if they believed in God. Like Abraham?
Hey everyone. I was at a church in northern Colorado. And the Sunday school teacher made the statement that the people outside the nation of Israel could be saved in the Old Testament by just believing like Abraham was. I think i know how to answer but would like to hear other peoples thoughts.

I think there's 2 different systems at play. First you have the time period before the Abrahamic covenant. Technically, everyone - including Abram - was a "Gentile"; because there wasn't another option. So anyone who - like Abram - trusted that God was in control of their lives & would fulfill the first promise to send the "son" to crush the serpent's head; could be in the realm of potentially 'saved'. I believe Christ's story of there being 2 places (Abram's bosom & Hades) divided by a chasm was where each type of person went to be temporarily, while waiting for the day that Jesus died to give them salvation; & then Jesus came to that place(1 Peter 3:19) to take those who waited for Him to be with Him in Heaven. "18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." 1 Peter 3:18-20 Then you have the time after the Covenant, where the added symbols of circumcision & the law came about. Yes, a Gentile was then supposed to take these as a sign that they had chosen the God of Abraham. But still the real point of their salvation was still trusting God would send His Messiah. Jesus made that clear when telling circumcised, legalistic Jews that they were not children of Abraham; but of the Devil.
