How much revenue are you losing to missed calls? (I ran the numbers — the result was eye-opening)
Quick question for the group: do you track how many inbound calls/texts you miss per week? Most contractors don't. And when they finally run the number, they wish they hadn't. Here's what happened with a home service client I work with: → Missing ~22 calls/week after hours and weekends → Average job value: £350–£500 → At 40% close rate = £3,080–£4,400 walking out the door. Every single week. That's £16,000+/month in missed revenue from unanswered calls alone. We set up a simple system: - Missed call fires an AI text-back within 60 seconds - AI asks a few qualifying questions (job type, urgency, location) - Books directly into the calendar - Sends confirmation + reminder automatically Week 1 result: £3,800 recovered. Month 1: £14,200 recovered. For construction/contracting specifically, the after-hours and weekend problem is MASSIVE. Emergency roofing calls, burst pipes, structural issues — they come in at 9pm on a Friday. The contractor who answers gets the job. The one who doesn't loses it permanently. Simple question: does anyone here track their missed call data? What numbers are you seeing?
Sold my first project…help!
Hi all, This is a great community. I just sold my first project, an AI phone assistant who will take calls, gather information, answer questions, and schedule appointments. I’ve used ChatGPT and Claude to plan out this project. But I still have two important questions for this great community. 1) What should I charge for this first project? If it goes well, it could lead to several others with the same Contractor. 2) For any of you who have built something similar, what tech stack did you deploy? Thank you.

@Andrew Asnes Good catch — important distinction for anyone going the GHL native voice route. Retell sidesteps the porting requirement entirely since it manages its own SIP infrastructure. More setup upfront, but you get a lot more control over branching logic, warm transfer, and call handling. Which stack did you end up going with for your project?

@Andrew Asnes totally normal at this stage — the key is keeping the conversation warm while they decide. A quick follow-up in 48 hours goes a long way. If it would help, a short demo showing how the AI handles their specific workflow can often be the nudge that tips the decision. Happy to help you put that together if useful 🙌
What an AI workforce actually handles for a home service business (full breakdown)
Most contractors think AI = chatbot. Here's what a full AI workforce actually covers: Never miss a contact: - Voice Agent answers every call, 24/7 — books jobs, answers FAQs, routes to the right person - Instant SMS text-back within 60 seconds if call goes missed Never let a lead go cold: - Multi-touch follow-up: SMS + email + call attempts automated across 7-14 days - Engagement Agent keeps warm leads warm without manual check-ins Reactivate old contacts: - Database Reactivation reaches out to every lead who never booked - Personalized ringless voicemails dropped at scale Close more jobs: - Sales system handles lead → qualification → appointment → handoff - Pipeline tracks every deal automatically Protect recurring revenue: - Renewal Agent sends retention sequences before clients go quiet All of this runs 24/7, without a receptionist, without manual follow-up, without letting anything slip. That's what I've built into a single deployable system: 277 assets, 166 automations, v1.8 and v2.0 included. Which of these gaps costs your business the most right now?
Every contractor I talk to raises the same 3 objections about AI — here's the truth
If you've been on the fence about AI for your contracting business, you're probably stuck on one of these: "I don't have time to deal with this." Fair. You're running a full crew. But AI isn't a project you manage — it's a system that runs without you. A proper setup takes 48 hours and you don't touch any of it. "What if it doesn't actually work?" Good question. Skip the hype and look at the numbers. An HVAC contractor I worked with recovered $3,800 in Week 1 just from following up on missed calls automatically — calls that used to go unanswered after hours. "I already have someone answering calls." Does she answer at 2am when someone's heat goes out in winter? AI does. Every time. Same response, same professionalism, no overtime. --- The real issue isn't any of these objections. It's uncertainty about whether it's worth the risk. The data says it is. The question is just timing. What's holding your business back from automating right now?

Why smart contractors aren't building AI systems anymore (they're importing them)
Talked to a roofing company last week. They had tried to set up an AI phone system and a follow-up sequence themselves. Took 3 months. Still wasn't working right. The problem wasn't their effort. It was the approach. Here's what the contractors who actually have this working are doing: They're using a pre-built AI workforce system designed for home service businesses. Import it, enter their phone number, go live in 48 hours. What the system covers: → Missed call text-back — every missed call gets an immediate SMS response → AI voice agent — answers calls after hours, qualifies the job, books the estimate → Database reactivation — runs through old quotes and leads that never responded → Review requests — automated 24 hours after job completion Real results from a contractor using this setup: • $3,800 recovered in Week 1 from missed call reactivation • 14 booked estimates per week from AI voice handling after-hours • 23 new Google reviews in 30 days from automated review requests The system runs every night while the owner is off the clock. No IT team. No technical setup. Just import, configure, collect. What part of your follow-up process is still manual right now?
