Procrastination
My biggest challenge is procrastination. So, starting today, I commit myself. I’ve created my action list for this week. Next week will be a new list, as the previous one will be completed. Everyday, I’ll tick it off as I completed it. It’ll only be one or two actions to complete a day. But I’m going to do it. I start small and gradually increase and expands, so I don’t burn out too quickly. Because, If I don’t change today, tomorrow will be the same.

@Ed JC Smith Have I dealt with the triggers that caused the pattern? 😅
Late Intro
Hi Everyone! I just realised I never properly introduced myself. My name is Maria, and I joined this community in September. I’m brand new to coaching and haven’t started working with clients yet, so I’m right at the beginning of this new adventure. Here’s a little about me. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, but I’ve lived in the UK for nearly 30 years. I came here as an international student and started from scratch. I studied, found a job, got married, built a career, became a mum to two wonderful kids, and the rest is history! For over twenty years, while being a wife and mum, I built a career in finance. For the last eight years, up until July, I was the Finance Director at a biotech company in Oxford. I truly enjoyed my finance career. It gave me structure, stability, and security. But deep down, I always felt there was something more I wanted to do. I wanted to create something of my own, with a deeper purpose, that could become a legacy for my children and future generations. So in May, I took a big leap and started my own business in the specialty coffee industry! You might be wondering what coffee has to do with coaching. For me, they are deeply connected. I believe one of my purposes in life is to turn difficult experiences into wisdom, challenges into opportunities, and adversity into something meaningful. Moving thousands of miles away from my birth family, building a new life in a different country with a new language to learn to be fluent, navigating difficult relationships, facing resistance, learning to stand up for myself, building a career, raising a family, and then having the courage to start all over again as an entrepreneur. None of this happened without challenges, mistakes, tough decisions, and a lot of soul-searching! But those experiences taught me a lot about identity, self-awareness, boundaries, resilience, and having the courage to choose a different path. Now, I want to use those experiences and insights to genuinely help others.

Day 238
Today I take action on building the life I want. This last weekend I started having difficulty breathing, not to the point of being alarming, but definitely uncomfortable. I saw a doctor yesterday and she ran some tests. I was diagnosed with RSV, which is a respiratory virus. I had it around 15 years ago and it kicked my ass and took me weeks to get over. Now, I'm already fighting with additional chronic health conditions, which makes it even more challenging. For a long time now, taking action has meant working to get well enough to perform basic daily activities. My mood is stable, but I'm really getting tired of this. It's both physically and mentally exhausting and just plain inconvenient.

I hear hear you, John. It’s easy to say ‘be string and keep going’ to other person. But, take it steady and one day at a time. Hope you’re okay.
Level 2 completed!
I’ve learned a great deal of the fundamental values and belief systems. All of it makes sense to me. But, something struck me more deeply than others (although, I’m not referring that ‘others’ are not important!). The statement “People: there is no such things as un-resourceful people, just un-resourceful state of being” Bam! It hits me. Because sometimes, the worst criticism for me is coming for me.
If ChatGPT can do what you do, you've got a problem
I know that's probably a strange thing for me to say in an email to coaches. But I think we need to be realistic about what's happening. If someone can type: "Help me improve my confidence." "Give me 10 questions to help me find my purpose." "How do I change my mindset?" …and get a pretty decent answer in 30 seconds for free… Why would they pay a coach hundreds or thousands to give them the same information? That's the challenge facing coaching right now. And AI is only going to get better. But here's what I think is really interesting… AI isn't going to replace great coaching. It's going to expose the difference between information and transformation. I saw that again on Monday when I ran my relationship masterclass. We talked about breaking relationship patterns, resentment, triggers, trust, communication, confidence and healing what's happened in the past. People don't struggle with these things because nobody has ever told them what to do. Most of them already know. They've read the books. Watched the videos. Listened to the podcasts. And now they can ask ChatGPT too. And they're still stuck. Because knowing you need to set a boundary isn't the same as being able to set one. Knowing you have trust issues doesn't suddenly make you trust again. Knowing you're repeating a relationship pattern doesn't necessarily tell you how to stop it. That's where a properly trained coach becomes incredibly valuable. And it's why I believe relationship coaching is one of the areas AI is going to struggle to replace. If you missed Monday's session and want to see the kind of work I'm talking about, I've made the replay available here: Watch the Relationship Masterclass replay here And then next Monday, 12th October, I'm running a completely FREE live masterclass specifically for coaches: The Coaches AI Can't Replace And How to Become One I'm going to show you: What's happening to the coaching industry as AI gets better.

Such an insightful info, Ed @Ed JC Smith . I’m a great believer that machine (including AI tools like ChatGPT) are meant to be tools to help us human. I remember when I did my MBA, it was around when chatGPT was just been released, my digital transformation professor told us, he said “ It depends how you use this tool. It can be very helpful or damaging depend on the hands it lands in. The smart student will be smarter the dumb student will indeed, get dumber” I work with AI all the time, before I gave up my full time job as an FD for Oxford based biotech company for 8 years, this is the core technology that drives the company’s proprietary assets. But that said, the people behind this machine are an army of very smart PHd’s in their own deep expertise that trains it. I use a mixture of AI tools all the time, personally and professionally, (chatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, even Midjourney), mostly for brainstorming, looking for good structure, and sometime just for fun or embracing my creative side. But, I own the prompt and the information I’ve put in it, the critical thinking and the integrity on what I want to use this information for. I have never just taken the information from these tools at a face value, and sanity check must be carried out for more evidence to verify the information. ChatGPT can lie! My take is this, would AI coach outperform Human coach? Yes and no. AI will outperform things like speed and availability (ai offers instant support 24/7 365 days), Data processing (ai can process complex data sets and flags data that human can miss), consistency (ai can perform coaching without off days, being fatigue or burnout, or just having a bad day), costs (it can be considerably cheaper to subscribe to this ai tools). Where human coach outperform are: Empathy and Emotional Intelligence (we offer genuine rapport and presence which is necessary so we can build trust, and we can read non-verbal communication from body language, facial expression and tonality, if which ai can’t (for now anyway). Whilst chatGPT and Claude can have superficial empathy, I think human still has better understanding and judgement about life and emotional complexities. Last but not least, human does need another human being for relationship and accountability, that is part of being human. Client will need a human coach who is genuinely care about what they are going through and to support their growth. In a world where AI is everywhere, people are craving more and more about genuine interaction and relationship with another human being.
