When I turned 65, I filed for Medicare Part A only, as I was still working. Now, due to a recent layoff, I filed for Medicare Part B (enrollment effective Oct 1, 2026), as I didn't want any gaps in my health insurance. I haven't yet received my new "Medicare Part A + B" card in the mail -- however, I downloaded the new temporary card from myssa.gov / medicare.gov linked accounts. Now, I want to file for Social Security benefits, and one of the questions is "Do you want to file for Medicare Part B?" If I answer, "No (because of my recent enrollment even though I haven't received my new "Medicare Part A + B" card in the mail), I'm scared that will cancel my Medicare Part B enrollment. What is the correct answer to this question, given my scenario? Thanks in advance to all for your help!
