Good morning. Today we learn that mercy is not optional—it is Kingdom TOPIC: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant (Mercy Received, Mercy Given) TODAY'S SCRIPTURE “Then Peter came up and said… ‘How often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?’… Jesus said to him… seventy times seven.” — Matthew 18:21–22 (ESV) (Parable itself) “Then the master… said… ‘You wicked servant! I canceled all that debt… Should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant…?” — Matthew 18:32–33 (ESV) TODAY'S WORD This parable teaches that God’s mercy must shape our mercy. 1) THE SERVANT WAS FORGIVEN A HUGE DEBT. This represents grace: a debt you could never repay is canceled by mercy. 2) THE FORGIVEN SERVANT THEN ACTED WITHOUT MERCY. The contradiction exposes the heart. Unforgiveness is often denial of grace. 3) GOD HOLDS RECEIVERS OF GRACE ACCOUNTABLE. Jesus makes it clear: if we have received forgiveness, we are expected to forgive. 4) UNFORGIVENESS ENSLAVES. The servant who refused mercy remained bound—internal torment, spiritual blockage, and relational destruction. Forgiveness is not pretending the hurt didn’t matter—it’s releasing the person to God and refusing to live as judge. PRAYER FOR TODAY Lord, remove unforgiveness from my heart. Heal my wounds. Make me a person who forgives the way You have forgiven me. Grant me mercy, wisdom, and peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen. PROPHETIC DECLARATION I declare grace for forgiveness. God will heal my heart and restore my relationships. MY DECLARATION I receive mercy—and I extend mercy. JESUS CHRIST IS LORD Jesus Christ is
