In the i vi ii v progression , you talk of diminished arp ( B, D , Ab or F) being played over the 6th (dom) chord - but what if it's a Emin7 rather than E7 -- can you still play a diminished arp for tension but coming from E, G, A#, C# ?
@Nigel Price thanks - just wondered what your thought process would be , i suppose almost anything goes as long as you hit a chord tone to resolve to the ii chord
Here’s the missing example solo from the ‘jazz wheel’ tunes. To avoid all doubt, the ‘jazz wheel’ Is the little device I invented to ensure the whole of the guitar neck is being covered by your practice. That’s all in the ‘Classroom’ if you sign up to ‘premium’. Thanks.
More about voice leading. This time with the groovy bossa nova and with the ideas transferred to octaves. Let me know what you think. I do like talking about this sort of stuff…
Anyone unsure of whether the subscription is worth it -?? - The answer is YES .......just the lessons on the fretboard alone are excellent . I binge watched them yesterday and now the hard yards begin..
when u started this did you pick one area and nail the chord tone and then move up or down neck -- or did you do freefall straight in and attempt to hit random chord tones in any position ?
@Nigel Price just checked the classroom pages -- excellent lessons fairplay. it definitely makes sense to nail thise bits down. In lesson 6 on random changes section towards the end are you still focusing on calling the intervals in your head and landing them on the beat when improvising ?
