Join me on Friday for a conversation around integrity & authenticity
Hello lovely people 👋 I'm back from Portugal (while @Nadene Canning is still enjoying herself on a little road trip). I'd like to invite you to join me this Friday for another Skillbuilder around integrity & authenticity, part of the BEING dimension. As usual, we'll start with a self-reflection and then discuss with peers. 12.30 pm - 1pm CET this Friday, October 2nd I hope to see you then! Warmly Sarah P.S. Couldn't resist to share some more pictures from Portugal

Thanks a lot @Sarah Santacroce There was also a distinction of terms to which I am adding some notes hereunder. Professionalism referring to expected behaviours and practice of a group of persons who share the same underlying assumptions about being professional. Can defer from place to place. A form of adherence to cultural norms in a profession. When we use the term unprofessional, we would refer to 'the way of conduct from a person who is expected to act as per this norm'. To some extent we would be able to identify the behaviour, or the gap in behaviour. Authenticity as referring to an individual way of being that can only be confirmed by the person him.herself. But we could have a 'common' type of feeling towards someone acting with authenticity. Being referre to as 'being authentic' could be both flattering and hurtful to someone. Actually, does it also harbour the term 'author'?

Gratitude and Happiness
I literally listened to 3 min of this and knew I needed to share it with you! Scientists have been measuring the effects of Spiritual practices for more than thirty years, and there are now thousands of papers in peer-reviewed journals showing that people with a regular spiritual or religious practice tend to be healthier, happier and longer-lived than those without one, whatever they happen to believe. Spiritual practices work, and this is not a matter of opinion. Rupert Sheldrake looks at the practices themselves rather than the arguments around them: gratitude, meditation and prayer, mantras, ritual, holy days and festivals, sport, and pilgrimage. Most of them cost nothing and require no prior belief system. The thread running through all of them is CONNECTION. Meditation and prayer are complementary rather than rival, more like breathing in and breathing out. Rituals and festivals connect people to each other and to those who did the same things before them. Even sport, which is usually thought of as a supremely secular activity, brings people into the present more quickly than almost anything else. This talk was recorded live at Hollyhock on Cortes Island in British Columbia, 2026. What are the 5 things you are grateful for this week?

Thanks @Nadene Canning Would there be evidences of factors or conditions that favor or limit the effectiveness of religious and spiritual practices on those benefits?

@Nadene Canning that's so complicated... I wonder if anyone knows about how states, intents, honesty and true understanding alters the lasting effect of engaging in those practices.
The (im)Possible Future: Animated documentary - screening in October
Hi everyone 🐝 The Impossible Future is an animated documentary series about people and communities who are already building solutions to the ecological, social and economic crisis. It grew out of a simple idea: these days it can be hard to imagine a different future, but those solutions already exist and they're already underway. During the week of October 18–25, the series is being screened in spaces all over the world at the same time. The same questions, asked at the same time, in different places, and you can be one of those places. Anyone can host. It could be a community space, a project or hub, or your own living room with whoever you'd like to invite. ✔️ No licensing fees ✔️ Full kit: the series, discussion prompts and ready-to-use promo materials 👉 Watch the series (first two episodes available worldwide): theimpossiblefuture.org/#episodios 👉 Host a screening: theimpossiblefuture.org/screenings One week. Many places. Other possible futures.

WELCOME TO THE MESSY IN-BETWEEN!
Where do you find yourself in this moment of systems transition? Are you pioneering the new? Hospicing the old? Supporting the in-between? Systems change happens in an uneasy space—between what’s fading and what’s yet to fully emerge. While we see glimpses of a regenerative future, extractive systems still dominate. So, how do we navigate this transition? 👉 Enter the Berkana Two Loops Model Developed by The Berkana Institute, Margaret Wheatley and Deborah Frieze, in the '90s this model maps out how systems change. As one system declines, another slowly emerges—not through sudden transformation, but through intentional transition. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: the old system doesn’t go quietly. So, who drives the transition? 🚀 Pioneers emerge first, those brave enough to experiment with new ways of thinking and doing. Without connection and support, those pioneering voices can easily be drowned out by the dominant system. THIS is why community matters. Pioneers need networks—to share, to connect, to recognise they’re not alone. 🤲🏽 Protectors, meanwhile, are those working within the current system—they nurture the new ideas, they carve out space for them to grow. But it's not only about innovation. Some fulfil the role of hospice workers for the old system—gently guiding it to a close while composting what’s worth keeping. 🌱 It’s about holding onto the best of the old, while gracefully letting the rest go. Where do you find yourself in this moment of transition? What would your role be within the Berkhana Two Loops Model? Let us know in the comments! 🌍✨ Thank you commonland for the reminder!
