220kg frame carry very fast
I posted this video on my Instagram yesterday with a little bit of a story, I thought maybe worth sharing here as well. I was fast enough to win this event in the under 80 kg category, but it was also the second fastest time across all athletes in all divisions across the day. I was never really known for my speed on moving events. Practising moving fast is a huge skill, and speed work should be part of peoples programs. This weight was not a heavy weight for me, and I didn’t want to just do speed work every week, nor did I want to train with comp weight every week. So most of my training was at 160 to 180 kg, 4-5 sets per week spread across two different sessions Each set, I moved deliberate and kind of slow, to accumulate more time of detention in my fingers, my forearms my traps and my ankles. Sometimes instead of going heavier and rushing, we can choose a moderate weight and purposely go slow

220kg deadlifts x10 in competition, which was my goal for this training block!
I hit this weight only twice in the three months of training leading up to the competition, Once for a set of three, and my last heavy session was a set of four reps. The majority of the training was between 190 kg and 205 kg I performed one “top set” of 5 to 9 reps, followed by two very light back offset, usually 160 to 170 kg for sets of three I didn’t do a lot of dead lift accessories this block, because the competition had six events including a very heavy yoke, and a max sandbag to shoulder event. Adding in more good mornings or more Romanian deadlifts or front squats on top of all that event training would surely just tax my system. So I did a few sets of hamstring curls, hip airplanes for glutes and hit my goal on the day! This was enough for Equal first on this event, and gave me enough points that I had won the competition before the last event.

ME Lower (Friday)
Did Elephant Bar Deadlifts again using a Dynamic start. Not only did I pull a 5lb PR, but I didn't have to hitch it up this time. Still, as always I'm only looking to get better.

Smooth as! Love an aggressive pull on the deadlift personally
ME Upper
Monday ME Upper, was barbell push press. I am switching to a three week wave approach with Max Effort for the foreseeable future due to my weight cut. This is a double with a slower eccentric with 90% of my max at my heaviest Bodyweight.
