Husband Passed Away on Thursday
My husband, who had been sick for years and recently went into hospice care, passed away Thursday morning.💔😢 He was 65 when he passed, but had to retire early from his Federal Government job in 2020 due to his health, and was receiving SSDI. I myself will turn 65 in November. 1) I will receive SSDI survivor benefits, correct? 2) If I delay receiving those SSDI survivor benefits until I turn 65 in November, I will receive a higher percentage of my husband's monthly SSDI -- Is my understanding correct? P.S. Please forgive me for posting in two places (I'm never entirely sure how to raise my hand for help)

@Arthur Yeh yes it was but read above, you stated be married 10 yrs to claim SS survivor benefits. 10 yr requirement is for divorce. She said her husband, sounds like no divorce there.

@Arthur Yeh survivor benefits (married or divorced) can start any age.
Thanks
After watching videos and getting answers to my posted questions on this site — gaining confidence (and correct wording I learned here) I was able to find out from a SS phone call, I can file on my deceased ex-husband survivor benefits 4 months before I turn 60. I was able to check off all the requirement boxes SS officer asked me. I didn’t feel confused, it was nice being prepared. I also learned he made more money so I plan to ride on his SS and switch to mine at a much later date. THANKS ED!
Zero SS Reporting Year
Looking over my years of SS reportings — I have a recent year with zero. I didn’t earn an income, I’m living off a pension and had to with drawl some early 401K. What do I do? My taxes were done - do I share that info? I tried using the search bar, I didn’t know the correct wording. I’m sure my question has been asked.

@Ed Weir thank you!
Filing in advance?
How many months early, before my 60th birthday, can I go to my local SS office to file for Divorced Survivor Benefits?

@Ed Weir my neighbor had to wait 3 months for a scheduled phone meeting — no body wants to work anymore.
Social Security Info
Hi I'm Lori Fries, I've worked at the same place for almost 36 years. I turn 62 next year and I need this class.
