IT'S BACK! Mastering Intensive starts Oct 6th
After popular demand, we are running another cohort of our Mastering Intensive program, which is by far our most popular 6-week intensive. Time and again, self-recording artists tell us that they struggle to get their music to sound as good as it does in their head. They have an idea of how they want their music to sound, but have no idea how to actually get there, and are left guessing. That’s why we created a 6-week mentorship program that focuses on ONE key discipline that will transforms your entire outlook. That discipline is mastering, and by providing you with an understanding of the mastering process, we equip you with the language to translate your vision into reality, master your own music, and get clear on what you're actually aiming for. We’re running another cohort of Mastering Intensive, starting October 6th. Click below to learn more about the program, and discover how learning mastering can make you a better artist, producer and engineer. 👉 Learn more: https://courses.mastering.com/product/mastering-intensive?utm_source=MemberSkool 🚨 PREMIUM MEMBERS: As a member you can get 60% off. @Rob Cooney Just adding to @Rob Mayzes reply my practical experience as a student. The secret lies in the word Intensive. Rigidly following the timing of the, indeed, intensive course (videos => practice=> excercises => feedback on your work by the mentors+community => next video => bang bang bang is the secret. No free lunches: it requires priority in your daily plannning, no excuses, no pauses, but stick to the curriculum timing for 6 weeks. That was a tough ride, but the pennies finally dropped and definitely changed my mindset AND the results of my mastering.
Cheat sheet - posters, mousepad, plugin?
Which would be the most interesting to you, to compliment the cheat sheet binder? I know some of you probably want all of these... but pretend you can only pick one :) Brief explanations: - Gaming mousepad would be a large 31" by 12" mousepad that takes up your whole desk - Regular mousepad is self explanatory, probably 9.5" by 8" - Poster would be standard size, roughly 24" by 36" - Plugin would be the digital cheat sheets but in plugin form, so you add it to a plugin slot to easily pull up the cheat sheets, maybe with some additional features like clicking on certain things to pull up the relevant video, or clicking on frequencies to hear them etc

Our Newest Mentor! Gemi Moon :)
I'd love to give a special shout-out to our newest membership mentor, Gemi Moon. Gemi recently passed certification in The Reverse Engineer (very difficult) and was asked to be a mentor for this community. Gemi is very talented in her own right, but she also has a lot of love and compassion for other musicians. If you book calls with her, you'll quickly find that she's not only helping you get better but also giving you a bit of joy and confidence in your day. She has that kind of energy! We love Gemi and are excited for her journey as a mentor. I hope everyone can give her a warm welcome here in this community :)

Just watched it and very helpful indeed. Thank you for this @Rob Mayzes . I was surprised of the immense difference between the transformer sounds and also the underlying EQ curves of these transformer models. I agree w @Tom Baldwin
What's your DAW?
What DAWs is everyone using and why did you choose that particular one or more? Mine is Steinberg Nuendo 4.3. I also just got FL Studio.

Ableton, for the huge ecosystem of Max4live devices plus its programming environment. So easy to create your own weird devices. Earlier I used NI Reaktor for that, but Max is less sluggy. In the 80s I used Steinberg Pro-24 for Atari. Then to Cubase on Windows. But since Windows 7 Cubase crashed too often, and I switched to Ableton (and FL too). My biggest mistake ever was sticking to Windows ...
