Something I talk about A LOT is micro-pleasures. They're small moments in your everyday where you bring all of your senses, all of your presence, all of your awareness to that one moment. It helps remind your body that there's no lion in front of you. It feels super, super yummy to punctuate your day with multiple micro-pleasures. A micro-pleasure can be something as simple as: - Getting your morning coffee and taking five minutes to sit outside and feel the sun on your face, smell the coffee, feel the warmth of the cup in your hand, and really, truly enjoy it without any other distractions. - Walking to work without your headphones in, so you can be present with the sound of your footsteps, the colour of the sky, or the rustle of wind in the trees. - Really enjoying 60 seconds of your shower, feeling the warm water running down your back and the soap on your skin. Micro-pleasures also help you practise being present and mindful, which is so important for sex and orgasm, because so much of that comes down to being able to stay present and attentive to your own pleasure. If your mind wanders during sex, you can bring it back. Practising micro-pleasures throughout the day is you practising exactly that skill, outside the bedroom, so it's already honed when you're inside it. It also doubles as a really yummy way of building gratitude into your everyday. There's so much research on the incredible benefits of a daily gratitude practice, it's actually something we spoke about in uni a few weeks ago. I've attached a research paper that shows the science behind why a practice like this matters so much for your health and outlook on life. My favourite part of micro-pleasures is hearing everyone else's for the day. If you're feeling brave, I'd love to hear what your micro-pleasure of the day is in the comments below!
