William Crowe is absolutely right! Stage fright is normal...not only that but if you don't have stage fright of any kind, you need to stop using that "routine" or resign from the part. Broadway productions routinely rotate their actors so that they don't get stale. "Butterflies" mean "you care about your performance." Your standard exercises like jumping jacks are great...and don't forget your vent exercises. I always check my lip movement before I go out there. Lastly as the introduction is being made and I get ready to step on the stage I look out at the audience and whisper "I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU ALL!" The stage fright melts away.
