I cloned my fantasy football commissioner
I play fantasy football for the ability to trash talk and play the part of the league villian. Last year i raised the bar with songs. This year raising the trash talk bar to a whole new level.

Cloning yourself is a clever move. Turn their own trash-talk into your material. Past comments are gold. That keeps it sharp and personal.

You can clone a guy's judgment, not his grind. If he runs his business on rules you can pull out and write down, you have a system you can hand to your AI worker. If he's making gut calls, that's the part you study closest.
More jobs from the 3-pak than 35 mil in ads...
And it costs NOTHING to get in the 3-pak! Tommy Mello does the marketing at A1 Garage Door. A1 does more than $350M a year and spends roughly $3.5M a month on marketing. Tommy still says their Google Business Profiles bring in more leads than any other marketing they do. Noah Igler interviews him in the attached video. Noah is one of the SEO's I pay attention to. He's good. VERY good, and I've learned a lot from him. GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE... the FREE listings in the 3-pak get more jobs than the 35 MILLION they spend a year on ads. (we can help with this btw, reach out to me) Noah borrowed a lot of the same core pieces for a plumbing and HVAC company that produced $6.81M in revenue over the last 12 months. He breaks the full system down in this video: The video walks through the parts I would steal if I ran an established home service company: - The four numbers Tommy runs marketing around: cost per lead, booking rate, close rate, and average ticket. - Why A1 has roughly 15 Google Business Profiles in Phoenix: one location can only cover so much of a major metro. - The review system behind the rankings: the ask happens inside the job process instead of relying on random follow-up. - How paid and organic search work together: paid search keeps jobs coming while the profiles, website, reviews, and local authority keep building. - What A1 is doing around AI search: giving Google and language models more real proof about the business instead of publishing generic filler. If your company is already doing a few million a year, pay the most attention to the multi-location section. One strong profile can become a great lead source. It still cannot rank across an entire competitive metro from one address. A1 solved that by putting legitimate locations around the market and building each one properly. That is a much bigger idea than another little GBP optimization trick. If you want me to help you with this or do it for you, say "yo Deacon!"...

The review ask inside the job process is the key. That's when trust is highest, so the response rate jumps. Smart, not random.
Hey everyone, Jem here 👋
I work around the people and operations side of service businesses, so I joined to learn more about how contractors are using AI and automation to improve the way they handle lead generation, follow-up, and day-to-day workflows. I’m especially interested in what actually works in the field versus what just looks good on paper. Looking forward to learning from everyone, exchanging ideas, and contributing where I can. 🙂

The gap between what works in the field and on paper usually comes down to follow-up speed. The contractor who responds within minutes tends to win the job. Curious what you're seeing.

Consistency is what turns a one-off win into a repeatable system. Speed gets you there, but showing up daily is what compounds into something you own.
How fast are you replying to Google reviews?
Google TRACKS how fast you respond to reviews... and they're using that data to decide whether you should rank higher than your competitors. Yes, REALLY! (they also track if you answer your phone calls, and that affects your SEO too, but that's another topic... IE: get an AI Answering service!) Most contractors either don't respond at all or take a week to reply with something generic like "Thanks for the review!" Both approaches are costing you rankings... so costing you jobs... so costing you $! Google wants to show active businesses that engage with customers, not businesses that ignore feedback or treat reviews as a set-and-forget thing. When you respond within 6 or so hours, Google sees you as an active business that cares about customers and they rank you higher because of it.But speed isn't the only thing that matters… Most review responses are wasted opportunities because they don't include the service you did or the location you did it in. When someone leaves a review saying "Great service, very professional," your response should mention what you actually did for them. "Thanks Mary, we're glad we could help with your driveway cracks in Glenwood. Appreciate you trusting us!" Google scans your review responses for keywords just like they scan the reviews themselves. When you mention the service and location in your response, it reinforces to Google what you do and where you do it… Want me to do this for you? (I'll get you 20 reviews the first month, automatically) Post, send me a DM, or email me at [email protected] . If you're getting reviews but not responding within 24 hours with the right keywords… you're leaving rankings on the table.

Speed matters, but most people miss the keyword part. Mentioning the service and town in your reply does double duty: it reinforces for Google and reminds neighbors who you are. Good tip.
Question for Contractors or anyone, really...
Over the years I've found it really hard to get contractors to record their own videos for YouTube. However, with YouTube owned by Google, it's no surprise that videos do VERY WELL getting shown on page 1 when people type things like "driveway paving near me", or "garage door repair help". And they get watched! (even more if it's someone talking) People feel a connection with you, it increases trust, and turns into a phone call... especially if the video ends with "need help with your garage door? Give me a call at 312 560-u812!" They. Just. Get. Shown on page 1! (especially if you're smart with keywords etc) Would it be valuable to any of you if we provided this as a service? For example, we create and post a video per week of you actually talking on a roof, in a basement, etc.. It can actually look like YOU... but not be recorded by you, lol. (AI can do it once I have a model saved) This would most certainly get you calls... and a video on YouTube lasts forever! So after a year there are 50 of them etc.. Maybe we could do a test?

The AI avatar angle is a solid hook. Keep the CTA soft. Try 'call if you need help' or 'hit me up when you're ready to ship.' Builder talk beats a hard pitch every time.
