Week 6 recall Maizie
We are loving this weeks challenge task. Just having so much fun with it & seeing such awesome results/improvements in Maizie. My fav so far. Added a few extra videos today of walking home on the long line & practising her recall like @Zali Nagle did with Marlo (thanks) & she was tired but still great engagement, focus & recall. Plus I gave her an ice treat with some of her big dog meat sticking out as @Nath Morrison & @Kayla Campbell suggested in our chat. I'm forever thankful @Nath Morrison @Matthew Marsh @Sian Isaac & the whole Walkys team for all you've done for Maizie & I. So much appreciated. 👏💜😊 Lets Go Wild Dogs👊 we really need this one this week. Lol🤣💜😊

SKILL 6: RECALL | MIDWEEK COACHING LIVE REPLAY! 🔥
JACKALS & WILD DOGS!! 🐺🐕 We're into our FINAL SKILL of the Spring Challenge, and this one's a big one! 💪🏻 First up, a MASSIVE congratulations to @Kerrie-anne Gallagher & Emmet for taking out Skill 5: Loose Leash Walking Part 2! 🏆👏🏻 What an awesome effort! In today's coaching live, we talked all things RECALL, and more importantly, how we build a dog that actually WANTS to come back to us! Here's what we covered: 🐾 LONG LINES SAVE LIVES! Safety first, always. Until that recall is reliable, keep your dog on a long line and set them up for success. 🐾 HOLD YOUR DISTANCE THRESHOLDS! Don't rush to add distance. Build reliability at each stage before making things harder. 🐾 ENGAGEMENT IS EVERYTHING! Keep your value high! Sometimes that means running backwards, getting excited, making ridiculous noises and looking like an absolute idiot in public. 😂 Who cares?! We want our dogs thinking we're the BEST thing in their world! 🐾 ALWAYS REWARD THE RECALL FIRST! Your dog has made the decision to come back to you. Celebrate that BEFORE asking them to sit, heel or do anything else. Remember, recall isn't just about teaching a command. It's about building a relationship where your dog chooses YOU over everything else going on around them. 🤍 We're so bloody proud of the work you guys have put in over these six weeks. The progress, encouragement and support across both packs has been incredible! 🎥 Catch the replay below, get out there with your long lines and let's see those recalls! 👇🏻 Drop your biggest recall challenge in the comments. What's the one thing your dog finds harder to come away from? LET'S FINISH STRONG, JACKALS & WILD DOGS!! 🔥💪🏻

Car travel
Hello! Can anyone recommend a good harness/leash for car travel. Just recently we've noticed our dog barking and trying to lunge (reactiveness) in the car at absolutely anything that moves - aside from other cars. Its usually on the way to/from something exciting so I'm sure he's 'working' or over threshold due to excitement but its becoming unbearable 😟

so the only the time I actually recommend a harness is for tethering in a vehicle for safety reasons. I would definitely prefer to use a crate, but if you do not have the space in your vehicle and are tethering, then a harness will do the best job at removing impact. However, if that's what you're using, you really want to be treating the back seat, or wherever your dog is tethered to, as a place bed: - Giving them a task to do - Putting them in a down - Rewarding - Adding duration between the rewards for holding them down - Really lowering distractions, starting with just the car in park out the front - Dog on the back seat, tethered - A bit of duration practice - Slowly moving the car with the dog in there, which may take a couple of people and some effort. Really interesting discomfort threshold to work with. Begin just in the front yard on the driveway, with the dog in the back seat. Take your time.
