Up here in cbus today helping to build the chip industry to give China a run for their money. Columbus Ohio is the fastest growing city in America. Also today wearing fr clothing all day on the job site while it’s a warm 101 degree day.

@William Feldtmose with Columbus growing like crazy traffic is only getting worse, it’s stretching out to Granville Ohio. All the surrounding towns and small cities are putting in for grants up upgrade all infrastructure and add bridges and new parking areas.

@Harrison Miller it got up to 104 , but let’s be honest Texas is Texas and it always gets hot down there, I wouldn’t choose to live in Texas in that heat. It’s hit 110 on a gas pad I was on 7 years ago cause I ended up getting heat stroke from operating heavy equipment for 16 hours.
A Gentleman's Vocabulary
"Unique" and "data" are used wrong all the time! I firmly believe that using our words carefully and accurately is a central aspect of being a well-intentioned gentleman. Vocabulary ensures that what we say is accurately understood by our audience (online and in person). Vocabulary is also the single strongest predictor of overall intelligence on standardized intelligence tests (this was my field of research for about a decade). In order to avoid this coming across as elitist, I want to stress that the two guidances below - certainly pet peeves of mine - are words we use every day rather than something only used in rarified academia or by some PhD on a sartorial forum... 🤓 Unique: its simple definition is "one of a kind". This is dichotomous, like a light is on or off. No in between. Therefore, nothing can be "really unique", or "largely unique" or nearly any other modifier applied to it. When something is not one of a kind, we still like "unique" because it sounds stronger than what we should probably say: very rare. It is, however, wrong and inaccurately conveys our intent. The only appropriate modifier for unique is something which clarifies the noun is becoming unique. If only three of something remain in the world and one is destroyed, saying the final two are "nearly unique" is appropriate. Data: this word is ALWAYS a plural. Datum is the word to describe a single piece of data. This is just like saying "this people is funny" when we mean "this person is funny". As a statistician, you can only begin to imagine how much this drives me nuts because of its near omnipresent use. "These data are impressive" may sound weird at first, but it is the only grammatically appropriate way to say it. I hope this was helpful and not pedantic!

This is like back when I was getting my environmental degree, my one professor got lit as all get out when you called soil dirt instead of soil. I agree even though I know scientific terms and scientific names for animals and plants , it does no good for me to try and teach the public by using those terms . The old saying keep it simple stupid still comes to mind
Finish Strong. Reset Well. 😎
It’s Friday!! And while I certainly enjoy the feeling of reaching the end of another work week, I don’t look at Friday as a day to simply coast toward the weekend. For me, intentionality means finishing the week the same way I try to begin it — with purpose. Today is a more casual office Friday, and with a cooler August day here in NY, I went with light grey trousers, a checked shirt, brown shoes and a coordinating belt. Relaxed? Absolutely. But still intentional. I think there is something important about finishing things well. Whether it is the work week, a meeting, a project, or simply the commitments I made to myself on Monday, I want to arrive at the finish line knowing I gave the week my attention all the way through. And then comes the weekend. I try to be just as intentional about that time. Time with family. Time to slow down. Time to enjoy some of the things I love. Time to reflect. And time to reset so that when Monday arrives, I’m ready and excited to begin again. The older I get, the more aware I become that none of these days are promised. Every day really is a blessing. Happiness is also a choice. I choose to be happy. I choose to be thankful. And I choose to be grateful — not just when everything goes perfectly, but every single day I’m fortunate enough to wake up and have another opportunity to live, work, learn and spend time with the people I love. So today I’ll finish the work week strong… …and then very intentionally enjoy the weekend. 😎 Be grateful. Choose happiness. Finish strong.
Finish Strong. Reset Well. 😎
