@Paul Etim thanks mate!! this was truly helpful . 1, so first, the notification was supposed to be just 1 , the welcome message for new users. i’d fix that bug. 2, secondly yes , default rating is typically default at 1200 for new users , based on the traditional elo rating system, Glicko is more precise because it includes a "rating deviation" (RD) to measure the system's confidence in a player's rating. New accounts or inactive players have a high RD, their ratings swing significantly after a match. Regular players have a low RD, leading to smaller, more stable rating adjustments.this is same in chesscom. somin short as you play frequently your rating stabilizes.. so starting everyone at 0 would make the leaderboard meaningless for long and matchmaking impossible, since ratings are relative. what matters is the gap between you and your opponent, not the absolute number. 3, and lastly , Board themes in settings all update to the selected one.that’s also a bug, now fixed at time of speaking.
