I haven’t been on in a while dealing with nonsense family drama going through a divorce, father in law passed, family home sold due to father in law passing and ex’siblings forcing the sale at lot after then the trust mentioned. Father in law died in July was in trust 3 months before house could be listed house was listed and sold Labor Day weekend realtor did not care what trust said neither did the siblings which the brother in law is the head of the trust. My kids have lived here all their life my oldest is autistic and my second daughter is a bubble child with medical issues my son is off at college so he like whatever and my youngest daughter is trying but tuff on her to. Then due to my father in law being sick and my ptsd causing me to miss work lost my job so no income except for my va disability and the ex doesn’t work but expects me to give her money still since by law still married and her bf is on ssdi cause he’s have social anxiety aka laziness. Also I have to move this damn house by Tuesday or the cleaning company will throw everything out and the closing is on Friday. The wife last weekend totaled the car I gave her coming home from her bfs messed up her hand and back so no moving help there then on Friday night some jack ass hit my van that I was gonna use for the move because of the weather nope that’s probably totally as well I can’t catch a break. Can’t get legal aid cause I make to much on va disability to qualify plus she has them represented her so conflict of interest. I don’t have 5-11k for retainer fee. My wife is coming after my assets but told me I don’t get anything from the sale of the house idk what else to do then she wants alimony and whatever else she can get from me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would have to guess that 20%-25% of new clients talk to me in our first meeting wanting to know about grants or special funding for veterans. Let's go over what is real vs. what is rumor mill. The SBA doesn't actually give startup grants to veterans, though they do waive some fees in certain circumstances: SBA's own site states plainly that it doesn't provide grants for starting or expanding a business; its grant dollars go to nonprofits and resource partners that provide counseling and training. This could clear up a lot of reader confusion and position you as the trustworthy source. So, find a non-profit that has a mission to support veterans or small business and apply for the funds. Now lets cover A roundup of real cash-grant programs for veteran founders. Here are a handful of legitimate no-strings grants currently running: the Hiring Our Heroes Small Business Grant Program (four $10,000 awards and one $25,000 award annually, funded by the FedEx Founders Fund), Warrior Rising's Business Shower grants ($2,000–$150,000, but only for graduates of its training pipeline), the National Association for the Self-Employed's Growth Grants (up to $4,000, membership required), and smaller/regional ones like Texas Woman's University's Veteran Entrepreneur Grant ($5,000 awards, Texas-only) and the Farmer Veteran Coalition's Fellowship Fund for ag-based businesses. Now lets look at the PE (Private Equity) side of the house. Hivers & Strivers, a veteran-focused angel investment group writing $100K–$1M checks in exchange for equity. (I have not personally worked with them). The best thing going for disabled veterans is still the VR&E program. As most know by now, they can offer up to $50,000 (with exceptions) for a veteran to start a business. The program usually takes 6-18 months and you need an official business plan that is vetted by an SBA partner (Me, VBOC, SBDC). IF interested, reach out to me directly.

Navy veteran Louisiana born native in Boston since out of service married over 21 years 4 kids 2 with special needs and 2 with medical conditions. Was in the construction world for years as a truck driver with a CDL A but doctor said for me to start looking for something different so I’m looking at starting my Louisiana themed food mobile business in the MA area. Me and an army buddy were the first veteran owned food truck in MA but you know Navy vs Army we butted heads a lot. Now looking at doing alone 70% service connected and life member of DAV and I do a ton of outreach here in MA for them and looking for the next step into this business Vision.
