Zoom game Monday evening at 7pm French time
Tomorrow is like to organise a Zoom watch where we assess a game and have a discussion about the tactics, strategies, performance etc and see if we can have a bit of a social get together. I’ll post the link tomorrow in this thread as I’m playing in a local comp right now. 7pm French time is 6pm UK time

Club Champions – Triplets
Won the Club Championship Triplets yesterday as a pointer. Lately I've been applying lessons from our Coach @Kevin ORourke videos and The Inner Game of Tennis, a book gifted to me by @Paul Cornwell mindfully. 'Play to Win' and not 'Play Not to Lose' is a message from Kevin that really stayed with me. That mindset helped me stay positive and commit to my descisions throughout the day. A key lesson from The Inner Game of Tennis is to trust my instincts instead of overthinking. When the game got tight, I focused on the boule in hand rather than the score, and on executing the shot rather than worrying about the outcome. Kevin emphasises the importance of playing a mindful game several times and we need to treat every boule as imporant. Every boule deserved my full attention yesterday, usually it was not the case in the past hahah. As a pointer, my focus was simple: place a good boule d’avant, apply pressure, and give the team something to build on. Nothing fancy, just doing the basics well and staying consistant for the whole day. #PetanquePerformanceAcademy #PlayToWin #EveryBouleMatters #MindfulGame #MindsetMatters #TrustYourInstincts #BouleDAvant #Triplets #ClubChampions

Brilliant lol 🤣
process vs outcome
Hello all, I watched coach Kevin's "The Mental Game of Pétanque" YouTube video, and I must admit I'm a product of a "100% outcome driven" training process. The result is that I can have an awful feeling about my release or the way the boule sits in my hand, and still shoot carreaux. On the contrary, sometimes I feel everything happening naturally and without effort, but I can end up 40cm long or 15cm off to the side of the boule I'm aiming at. And all of this can happen within a single game. Bottom line: I have a very hard time sticking to a given "technique" or "feeling," and my gesture, even if it may look the same from the outside, often feels very different every time I play. Side note: I've noticed that sometimes, pointing a few boules can "anchor" my technique and give me back a smoothness I had lost. Obviously, that's hard to do within a game where my job is to shoot. I'd be curious to hear how you feel about this yourselves, and how you deal with it if/when it happens to you.
