How Joy Tells You Where You're Headed
Joy can be such a powerful compass for anyone trying to figure out what comes next, and really, for anyone who feels like something is missing. Think about the last time you got so caught up in something that you lost track of time. You were not chasing joy in that moment. You were doing something that fit you, and the joy showed up by itself. That is the part most of us get backwards. We go looking for joy as if it were the goal, when it is really what the life you want produces, whether you plan for it or not. The life is the North Star. Joy is how you know you are pointed at it. 🎈 That is how it went for me. Years ago I stood outside a mall watching a man play the saxophone, and then I went and bought a balloon starter kit. That kit turned into eighteen years of twisting balloons, and somewhere along the way people started calling me the Giggle Therapist. And just to be transparent, I never set out to find joy, and I never set out to make people laugh for a living. I set out to live a life I wanted to live. The laughing, theirs and mine, came along with it. So if the joy has gone missing for you, it does not mean something is wrong with you. It may mean you have been steering by somebody else's star. This week, notice where joy shows up without being invited. That is your direction. If you find it challenging to locate it, download this FREE tool to help you connect with it.
I agree 100%. My second community is only working because I'm enjoyng it instead of just trying to follow some formula an expert gave me
@Lydia Lowery Busler I had one for 6 months before I started roast & promote. it was about tech planning and support. it's closed now.
It all starts with a shit idea
Than the second step is implementing the idea. Congratulations, you're ahead of 99% of people who are just stuck in their shitty ideas. Third step is figuring out why it's not working and trying again untill it does. It will take much longer if you try to figure out alone. So join Roast & Promote and let's figure out together!

@Valerie Hail thank you. You seem like a great potential roaster! I reward people who get on the grill
@Valerie Hail on my group every single post is a roast request. People ask for others to point out flaws at their skool, landing page, ad, design, copies... and you can also submit feedback or give feedback to others. And each week I promote the most helpful roaster with a pinned post at the top for the next seven days!

[HARSH TRUTH] If you're not making 10K or more a month...
... with a schedule full of clients and hundreds of people joining your group everyday, than you're problably not too busy to: - Welcome people in your group with more than a scripted message, automated or not. Make some effort to welcome the people who join. Check their profile, start a relevant conversation with them. Schedule a 1:1 calls or record a video if you can. Make them feel like you're not too busy for them and that will make a huge difference on how much they engage and how open they are to pay you. You shoudn't care about scalability if your schedule is empty! - Answer the posts in your group with more than just a "thank you for your input", "haha cool" or "agree". Make some effort with the people who joined and post there. Connect. They came specifically for you. Remember how much you wanted people posting when you first started. - Getting to know your members, tagging them to relevant conversations, making them accountable on their goals and stuff like that. → We're not celebrities, we're community owners. Give attention to the people who join your group. Don't just keep making content and waiting for applause. Focus less on content and more on interacting with the people who already joined.

@Steve Atencio @Dave Hughes it's also not just about making posts in your own group. It's about interacting with your members. If they make a post, answer their post with very helpful comments. DM them if no one is posting. Tag them if something is relevant for them. Celebrate their wins. Make them accountable. Do live calls, and if no one is joining the calls offer 1:1s with the most engaged ones. The whole point is giving as much as you can for your members specially if you have time to spare. Don't worry on being scalable if your schedule is not full. And don't obsess over content if your group has low engagement. You might have your ideal high ticket client inside your group right now and never find out because you never really had a real conversation with him/her.
@Dave Hughes It's also about acting like a leader and not a celebrity. I saw more than once people reaching 200 members or a similar milestone and acting like they deserve a trophy, boasting on skoolers while simply ignoring their members.
