Hi @Jenna Mok are there any good ways to sit on the floor, with scoliosis? I'm often sitting on the floor for extended periods to play with my son. Cross legged most of the time but occasionally kneeling, and my lower back is usually very stiff and sore when I get up. I try sitting on cushions or yoga blocks but I'm not sure it makes a huge difference.
Classroom lessons
I'm slowly studying the lessons available in the "classroom", working on finding the ones that will work for me. Anyone else doing this?

Yes! This is the approach I'm taking too :)
Intro
Hi all! I'm a 43 year old mum to a gorgeous 5 year old boy. Born and raised in Sydney Australia, but moved to London in 2014 and then to my husband's home town in Italy during the pandemic. I first learnt I had scoliosis in my 20s but it was never an issue so I never really got it checked out. I had some minor back pain which I managed with yoga throughout my 20s and 30s and although I didn't exercise alot, I kept active by walking everywhere (and dancing all night whenever possible! ;)). During pregnancy, my spine actually straightened out a little and I didn't have any back pain at all! Fast forward a few years though, my lifestyle has become much more sedentary and I started gaining weight around my belly (which created some panic, as I've always been quite slim). So I switched to diastisis recti safe core work (probably an incorrect self diagnosis) and then recently, moved to strength training as the belly wasn't shifting. I think the strength training (which was not specific to scoliosis!) may have done some damage, as my lower back and hip joint on one side is significantly worse than ever before and nothing seems to ease the discomfort. I realise I probably need to seek a proper check of my spine but until then, I'm keen to learn ways to be more aware of my body and the impact of my scoliosis, how to manage pain and how to strengthen my body safely.

@Jenna Mok thank you for this community and sharing your knowledge! That's helpful to know I may not have "damaged" myself! It's just been a lingering twingey kind of pain in my right lower back and hip, that's lasted longer than any other discomfort I had previously. It's not impacting anything like walking or lying down. It's just constantly there and doesn't seem to ease up. So I've taken a break from the weights, and hoping to learn more about how to make adjustments for those kind of moves. I finally got to try out some of your videos/excercises and really enjoyed them. I struggled more than I expected with the bird-dog moves, and the side lying hip rotation type things - not just with one side being more difficult to hold but also with finding a comfortable base before moving. For bird dog, I felt like my knee (on the ground) was struggling. For the side lying ones it felt like my upper ribs, kind of near my shoulders were poking out into the floor more than they should be (definitely worse on one side than the other). But I'm looking forward to practicing more and checking out the rest of your vids!
🎉Live Call 8/8: ⁉️Hip issues for Scoliosis! (hip pinching, achy, etc)
⁉️Today's Live Class question: Hip Issues for scoliosis - front pinching, achy, etc - what can I do? The number one culprit is the weak GLUTE_CORE muscle. CORE Is not just in your belly, it's inside your glute! Check out the YouTube at 10:minute mark, you will be able to follow the exercise :) We are changing the format of LIVE classes, since most people have hard time making the call during the weekend/ summer, I will collect questions ahead of them and cover the questions every Saturday from now on! 🎉The workout: https://youtu.be/Ix93BuZ8-LQ 10:10 minute mark 💪Work with Me 1:1 Coaching (August is full, Waitlist for September) https://form.typeform.com/to/x9hYqGIu

Looking forward to trying this. My lower back and hip (right side, where my lower spine seems to curve to my left, concave to the right) have been in so much pain recently!

@Jenna Mok various yoga poses and stretches, even squats used to help. But lately, these moves cause more pain (or theres some temporary relief before it gets worse). Sometimes lying on the floor and breathing through it helps but it takes some time which is not always available for me.
