Most traders treat strategies the way some people treat dating — exciting at first, abandoned the moment it gets boring or hard, replaced by the next shiny thing that promises better results. That's not a system problem. That's a commitment problem, and it shows up in trading exactly like it shows up in relationships. Strategy hopping is infidelity. The moment a system has three losing trades, you're already looking at a new one on YouTube, convinced this one will finally be different. It rarely is — you just reset the sample size back to zero and start doubting again in another three trades. Risk management is boundaries. A relationship without boundaries burns out fast, and so does an account without a max daily loss. Boundaries aren't a lack of trust in yourself. They're what makes trust possible, because you're not relying on willpower in the moment — you already decided the limit in advance. Drawdowns are the rough patch you don't leave over. Every real relationship has a season that's harder than the rest. You don't end it the first time it gets difficult — you look at whether the foundation is still sound, and you work through it. A strategy with real edge behaves the same way. A rough patch isn't proof it's broken. Journaling is communication. Relationships fail quietly when people stop talking honestly about what's actually happening. Trading fails the same way when you stop being honest with yourself on paper about what you did and why. You don't build anything real by chasing the next exciting thing. You build it by staying, through the boring parts, with something you already chose.
