What If Resilience Is a Team Sport?
I came across some research recently about resilience and stress, and one thing really stood out to me, something I've been very aware about for a long time... the people around us matter. A lot! We often talk about resilience like it's something we have to find or build within ourselves. Be strong. Keep going. Push through. And yes, some of it does comes from you. I've always been a pretty determined person. But if living with MND has taught me anything, it's that determination will only get you so far. I know what I'm capable of. I know what I still want to do. But without the people around me helping me make those things possible, my life would look very different. Sometimes the thing that gets you through isn't some amazing inner strength. It's the friend who checks in. Someone who makes you laugh when you've had enough. The person who knows when you need help without making a big deal about it. Or just knowing you've got people in your corner. I think we underestimate how much we help each other get through the hard stuff. So maybe resilience is a bit of a team sport after all!! Who are the people in your corner? And whose corner are you in?

Leanne, this resonates deeply. MND has taught me that resilience is never a solo journey. Families, caregivers, friends, and advocates carry the weight together. I’m grateful this community is now part of my corner, and I hope MNDaK becomes part of many corners across Africa. 💚
Your $50 Happiness Budget
Ok, so someone hands you $50 and there's only one rule: you have to spend it on something that will make your day better. You can't put it towards bills. You can't save it. And you can't spend it on anyone else. It is completely, selfishly, yours. What are you buying? There's no need for it to be sensible or productive either. Maybe it's a great lunch, fresh flowers, a new book, a massage (albeit not a very long one in some countries), something for the garden, a ridiculously good bottle of wine, or $50 worth of chocolate. So, what's your $50 happiness budget going towards? And no cheating by saying you'd save it! My answer is in the comments👇

An early morning game drive at Nairobi National Park, followed by a good brew of Kericho tea. I only hope no other “horse” follows me to watch the Big Five while the nocturnal wildlife head home. 😄 That’s my perfect $50 happiness.
What's ONE thing you've discovered lately that's made your life better?
Tell me, what's ONE thing you've discovered lately that's made your life better? It can be anything. A book you couldn't put down. A podcast worth listening to. A recipe that's now on repeat. An exercise you actually enjoy. A great app. A product you wish you'd bought years ago. A TV show we all need to watch. Or just a small habit that's surprisingly useful. I'll start... Mine is my friends 🥰... on a trip back to my hometown they remind me how much I miss them. I always come back with my cup and heart full and feel so grateful that they make my life so much better. Now your turn 👇 Drop ONE recommendation in the comments - and have a look through everyone else's while you're there. I have a feeling we might uncover a few gems!

Working out. I’ve discovered that it gives me much more than physical fitness. It clears my mind, lifts my mood and somehow helps me put things back into perspective. Some days I go because I want to; other days I go because I need to. Either way, I usually come back better. 💚
Things I’m Officially Too Old to Care About 😂
I think one of the better things about getting older is realising just how many things you don't actually have to care about. My list is getting longer… - Uncomfortable shoes. I was once known for my love of high heels. Those days are well and truly behind me. Nowadays, comfort wins every single time and I'm not sad about it! - Saying yes just because I feel like I should. A polite no is perfectly acceptable. - Dressing for my age. What does that even mean? If I like it, I'll wear it. - Staying up late because everyone else is. Sleep wins. - What everyone thinks of me. I won't pretend I've completely mastered this one, but I'm a LOT better at it than I was 20 years ago. There are definitely some advantages to getting older. You know yourself better, you're a bit more comfortable saying what you want (and don't want), and some things that once seemed terribly important, well they just… aren't anymore. So let's hear yours - what are you officially too old to care about? Funny, serious or completely ridiculous answers all welcome. 👇

I think I’m officially too old to care about rushing everything! 😄 These days, comfort, sleep, protecting my energy and doing what actually matters have quietly moved to the top of my list.
Is it time to forget the 5am club??
I think "morning routines" have become a bit overcomplicated. Social media would have us believe we need to wake up at 5am, meditate, journal, work out, drink a green smoothie and read ten pages of a book before 7 o'clock. Honestly? Most of us don't live in that world. Some mornings you're getting kids ready for school. Some mornings you're rushing to work. Some mornings you're just trying to get yourself moving. My mornings look very different to what they used to. Living with MND means I need help with every part of getting ready for the day. It's slower, and there's not much that's spontaneous about it anymore. But one thing hasn't changed. How I start my morning still influences how I experience the rest of my day. For me, it isn't about ticking off a perfect routine. It's about creating a little bit of intention before the day takes over. That might be taking a few deep breaths. Thinking about one thing I'm looking forward to. Choosing how I want to show up. Some days that's all I need. I've realised resilience isn't built by having the "perfect" morning. It's built by finding a routine that's realistic for your life and coming back to it, even after you've fallen out of the habit. So I'm curious... What's one thing you do in the morning that helps set your day up well? It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Sometimes the simplest habits are the ones that stick the longest.

My morning is much simpler than the 5am club, Leanne. A cup of tea comes first, then I often check Facebook to see what you have posted. It has quietly become part of my morning routine. Routines may change, but perhaps the important thing is finding the little things that help us begin the day well.
