@Maaria A Thank you so much sister for that advice, i really needed it alot. Last year, I had a broken engagement. In the early stages of talking to that guy, I involved my father first, and my mother took it so personally that she disowned me during that time and talked ill about me to my siblings and family, though Alhamdulillah we are on good terms now. She saw it as a betrayal. She feels this way because my dad hurt her in many ways during and after their marriage. For context, for the largest part of my adulthood its been my mum providing for me financially ie high school tuition and university fees, my dad hasnt been too involved really, sometimes we used to ask for financial support and he used to ghost us, i know he was trying to get back at my mum for divorcing him. but some times he would actually provide. And i have been living with my mum most times. When my dad visits we usually meet him at my step moms home as he also has a wife in my country. I am stuck on this issue. I want to follow Islamic footsteps without hurting my mum, and I don't want this dynamic to affect the next potential suitor I get.

@Samira B Thank you dear sister, i know its not so easy for ladies in such a situation. To be honest in my situation, i would say my parents arent so mature to the point of putting their conflicts/pride aside for the kids sake. If i involve my father first, my mum feels betrayed and she actually cant attend that wedding btw. I had a broken engagement last year and that happended. My mum said she cant attend my wedding as long as my dad and his relatives are present. Im 26, im working, but i live with my mum, I dont want to leave her alone in the house and rent my own apartment, if i leave her, she will be alone and lonely as all my other siblings are at school and another is at further studies abroad. This is a difficult period for me, cant wait to put this behind me.
