I’m sharing this because if you’re using social media to grow your business, this is NOT the way to do it. This person and I have never spoken before. Not once. She jumped straight into my inbox asking questions about my business, The Plug & Play Vault, mentoring and what I’m building. I didn’t respond. That should have been enough. But instead of taking the lack of response as a sign that I wasn’t interested, she followed up again with another unsolicited message trying to continue the conversation. Please don’t do this to people. There is a huge difference between genuine networking and relationship building and entering somebody’s inbox cold, analysing their business and repeatedly trying to start a conversation that appears designed to lead into a service or offer. If I’m interested in your services, I will reach out. If someone doesn’t respond to your first unsolicited message, repeatedly messaging them isn’t going to make them more interested. In many cases, it will do the complete opposite. Your potential clients are PEOPLE, not leads sitting in an inbox waiting to be converted. Build relationships. Engage genuinely. Provide value. Earn trust. Respect boundaries. And most importantly, learn when no response IS the response. I’ve blocked this person because I’m not interested in receiving further messages. If you’re building an online business, please remember: Your marketing should make people want to come closer — not make them reach for the block button. 🚫 There are better ways to sell. There are better ways to network. And there are definitely better ways to introduce yourself to someone for the first time.
