Growing the school systems
Over the last 10 years it seems the number of BCBA’s in the school systems has greatly increased, however from my experience most of that expansion is for “behavior reduction”. To me it feels like there is still marked room to see the science accomplish real meaningful change for our young ones! What do you see as the greatest opportunities within the school systems to be able to increase impact of behavior analysis? Do you have any current directions to make this happen or are there any barriers you are trying to overcome before putting it in to action? I am excited to hear everyone’s thoughts and visions! My Teams current direction here: 1. we have a 5 year plan to implement our brief assessment/skill building learning center model through “resource teachers” in SPED, empowering active skill building through a system designed for 1-2 hours per week.

My team is working on training skill building for site based folks around tier 1 and tier 2 intervention since we’re often called in to develop BIPs when the foundational elements of a successsful clsssroom are missing. I’m curious about your model, is it targeting RSP skill building or is the intervention to be run 1-2 hours per week with students? In my district I’m assigned all the middle schools in the district I currently work in so I work with all SPED settings and RSP is particularly tricky one.
OBM
Hi Friends. I am a behavior coach in a public school. Right now, we behavior coaches (3 out of the 4 are BCBAs) are in a different role where we are doing intensive process coaching and technical assistance coaching regarding school systems and structures. The more I am in it, the more I see the need to further my knowledge of OBM. Give me some great recs for podcasts, books, journals...anything please!

Hi Caylee! Where are you located? I’m a school based consultant in California and part of my job is coaching teachers too. I’ve been in my current role for 4 years. The crisis in education podcast has an obm perspective and applies it to schools. I am wrapping up the obm certificate course through ABA technologies. It was a great experience but the content examples were more focused on the ABA clinical world.

@Caylee Irving I hear you on that. I’m assigned to special ed. So much of my time ends up being spent on student specific cases even though the goal is to train case managers and site staff, the fade. The district I work in the systems issues run deep too.
Welcome! Everyone- Start Here!
Hello, and welcome to the Open CEU Community! My name is Matt Harrington. I have been a BCBA for 6 years, and have given out over 10k CEU certificates through the Behaviorist Bookclub. This community originally started as the ABA Clubhouse, and we have been doing weekly free CEU events since the beginning of the year. In July 2026, our new software, openceu.com launched! OpenCEU is a CEU hosting platform that aims to reduce the response effort (and cost) of publishing CEUs. More on that in one of the pinned posts! A little about me! ✅ RBT -> BCaBA -> BCBA -> Clinic Director -> ABA Marketing ✅ 3 kids (2, 4, and 6) + Married 7 years ✅ Values are family protection and creation/production A little about the community 🦄 Free weekly CEUs 🦄 Community chat regarding things BCBAs ACTUALLY care about 🦄 Sharing CEU events encouraged! What to do next 🧚‍♀️ Browse the classroom (or go straight to openceu.com) and watch some CEUs 🧚‍♀️ If you are an ABA Complany director/owner, check out the pinned post to learn about the ABA Back Office or go to https://www.skool.com/the-aba-back-office 🧚‍♀️ If you are an ACE Provider, check out the pinned post to learn about how you can host CEUs at no cost at OpenCEU.com BTW, you may notice that this community is free, but you can also subscribe for $5 or $25. Let me explain. OpenCEU was built on open access, meaning I charge nothing for ACE providers to host on the platform and take 0% platform fees. BUT… As OpenCEU gets more popular, the cost to maintain the software has increased as well. So the $5-$25/month is a small donation to help me keep the platform open access and encourage the dissemination of future research. So, if you would like, every subscription goes directly into keeping this mission alive!
