Anyone come across this issue, Jag XE (X760) 2016
Real left light cluster and BCM issue. Turn on ignition, press brake, left brake light comes on for approx 1 sec then turns off, not to come on again unless you cycle the key. Other lights in the cluster are side, reverse, indicator, these all work. Side are LED, reverse & indicator & brake are normal bulbs. Normal operation from the right cluster, no issues. Unplugged left rear light cluster, checked resistance inside light cluster, no issues. Plugged light cluster back together. Checked voltages. Side are battery +, indicator is battery +, reverse is 1.9V, press brake pedal, brake light is 6.9v for 1 sec then 0.0v. Checked right light cluster for comparison. Side are battery +, indicator is battery +, reverse is 7.2V, press brake pedal, brake light is battery +. Went to the BCM, right brake light has battery + when brake pressed. Left brake light has 6.9v for 1 sec then 0.0v when brake pedal pressed. So no issues with the wiring, it appears the output signal from the BCM for left brake light and possible left reverse light is causing the issue. Anyone else had this problem?

No fault code present. Will try swapping them over and see what happens.

Good call Bob. Swapped lights and the fault moved with the light cluster. A quick at the wires and resistance and price up a new light cluster.

Working with a blown fuse!!!
Had a Hyundai i20, MOT failure on a brake light on the offside rear. Ignition on, brake on - all brake lights operated. Sidelights on- all sidelights operated. Sidelights on - brake pressed and offside rear light went off. ??? Noticed Offside was dim compared to the others. Bulb is a 2 filament bulb, only the sidelight filament was working for both sidelight and brake. Replaced bulb, only the sidelight filament was working. Must be a fuse!!! Only one fuse for all brake lights. Fuse is blown, Brake lights are working!!!!. Pulled fuse, checked, definitely blown, put back in, no brake lights working. Replaced fuse, checked bulb, both filaments have high resistance. Changed bulb. Tested brake and sidelight also with the sidelights on tested brake. Now both working properly.

It is odd. After removing the first bulb and seeing the filaments were in tact. I did try the another bulb, upon the which the result was the sidelights working but the brake light not working. I check the voltages using a powerprobe, side light getting battery voltage, brake getting zero voltage. Other 2 brake were working, fuse must be okay. Went to connector block inside car, same result, sidelight battery voltage, brake zero voltage. Checked alldata for circuit diagram, is it 1 or 2 fuses, same fuse for all 3 brake. Checked fuse using powerprobe, fuse blown, pulled fuse, other 2 brake not working. Checked voltages, battery on sidelight, zero on brake. Checked other light cluster, sidelight battery, brake zero. New fuse checked voltages, on both light clusters, now getting voltage for both sidelight and brake. Put new bulb in everything worked as per normal.

Unknown, new bulb, new fuse, it works. MOT retest it passed. Car is not worth the time delving to deep into it. It works, customer is not going to spend money just to satisfy a curiosity.
